📣 ANNOUNCING ROXBY’S AUSTRALIA DAY AWARD RECIPIENTS🏆
Council would like to formally announce and congratulate the recipients of the Roxby Downs Australia Day Citizen of the Year Awards.
These awards will be presented at the Roxby Downs Australia Day celebrations at the Roxby Link Pool on Sunday 26 January 2025. The traditional breakfast will be available from 9.00am and the Awards will be presented at 10.00am.
These celebrations are open to all members of our Community and visitors.
This year 2 Citizen of the Year Awards will be presented, with both Dr Simon Lockwood and Casey Simmons being recognised for their respective contributions.
CITIZEN OF THE YEAR
🏆 DR SIMON LOCKWOOD has a long history in the support of Roxby Downs.
Simon has provided outstanding healthcare services to the Roxby Downs and surrounding communities for over 21 years. During this time, he has also mentored emerging doctors through his involvement as a medical educator at the University of Adelaide, advocated for rural and remote health services. Simon has supported the local community through the East Roxby Football Club, and been a significant voice through various Roxby Downs Community Board forums.
Congratulations to Simon and thank you for your ongoing contributions to the Roxby Downs and surrounding communities.
CITIZEN OF THE YEAR
🏆 CASEY SIMMONS and his family are long-time residents and supporters of the Roxby Downs community.
Casey has an extensive history as a dedicated volunteer within the Roxby community, including Past President of the Rotary Club of Roxby District and driver of community projects such as the
▪️ Dog Park Shelters
▪️ Blue Tree Project
▪️ Numerous Camp oven cook ups
▪️ Rotary Club fundraisers
Casey is also recognised for his contributions and support of the Roxby Downs Soccer Association, and provision of telecommunications services and support to the Roxby Downs community.

YOUNG CITIZEN OF THE YEAR
🏆 Young Citizen of the year has been awarded to Lily Nelson.
Lily has an active commitment to the community through her achievements in local sporting events, umpiring and coaching basketball and netball, runner for Roxby Downs Miners Football Team, teaching at the Roxby Downs Academy of Dance, as well as acceptance into the Adelaide Thunderbirds Talent Academy and co-captaincy of the West Adelaide U15s SANFLW football team.

COMMUNITY EVENT OF THE YEAR
🏆 The Roxby Twilight Market has been awarded the Roxby Downs Australia Day Community Event of the Year Award.
This annual event, auspiced by the Roxby Downs Area School Governing Council under leadership of Kate Ali always brings members of the Roxby and surrounding communities together to create a wonderful and enchanting atmosphere together with an important opportunity for emerging entrepreneurs to try their ideas and wares in the local market.
Congratulations to the Roxby Markets Committee on the success of this annual event and their continued commitment to Roxby Downs.
COMMUNITY EVENT OF THE YEAR - LEGEND AWARD
🏆 The Rotary Club of Roxby Districts' Christmas Pageant has received the Roxby Downs Community Event of the Year Legend Award.
This annual event always brings members of the community and surrounding communities together to celebrate the Festive Season and end of the year.
2024 was an exceptionally spectacular event with a great crowd, record floats participation and beautiful weather making for a memorable occasion.
The Club’s successful auspicing of the event since 2009 is recognised, with this Legend Award enshrining the event as part of Roxby’s culture and history.
Congratulations to the Rotary Club of Roxby Districts on the success of this event and their continued commitment to bring joy to Roxby Downs.
ADMINISTRATOR’S AWARD FOR EMERGING SMALL BUSINESS INITIATIVE
🏆 Liesl Perryman has been awarded the Australia Day Administrator’s Award for Emerging Small Business Initiative for Roxby Downs.
The Award recognises Liesl's success in building Liesl's Outback Nail Bar business and profile, and her strong support for local fundraising and community initiatives, benefiting the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS), Biggest Morning Tea, Roxby Downs Children’s Centre and local Roxby netball association.
Congratulations Liesl achievements throughout 2024 and your continued commitment to the Roxby Downs community.
