Did you know that gardening is considered a form of creative and expressive arts?
When you garden, you are creating - with mother nature! Planning, planting, waiting to see what happens, nurturing and loving. It's a beautiful and powerful expression whether your garden is indoors or out. Did we also mention that it's considered some of the best and most sustainable life exercise?

Based on their research into Arts and mental health, The Conversation 2020 suggest that by limiting talking or by listening to music without lyrics during any form of art practice, you will enhance your overall experience.

This is because “the parts of the brain activated during visual art are different than those activated for speech generation and language processing.” By limiting our exposure to language during art, we also rest those overworked parts of our brain which calms our nervous system and fosters healthy wellbeing. As The Conversation beautifully put it “The neurochemicals that are released feel good, and that is your brain’s way of thanking you for the experience.” From my Broca to your Wernickles!

I stumbled across this one off journal note I made about the BeCause movement. Funnily it has inspired me to revisit my thoughts about why I am doing this. If you believe in a trauma informed Art as Therapy come and become part of this movement with me. There’s plenty of art and research to be had. Let’s use the humanistic language of art over pathology driven language to find our own healing. I invite you to send me a message now as let’s chat and explore together BeCause is Community.
