Geranium essential oil (Pelargonium graveolens) is best known for its role in high-end skincare and perfumes, but don’t let its floral reputation fool you - this oil is incredibly practical in animal care.

It’s one of my favorite multi-taskers for:

Geranium is both grounding and uplifting at the same time, making it helpful for animals who are tense, stressed, itchy, or dealing with skin challenges.

🐾 HOW TO USE GERANIUM WITH ANIMALS:

For Dogs 🐕
Topical use: Dilute to 1–3% and apply 1–2 drops of diluted oil to areas of concern or along the spine.
Aromatic use: Add 2–3 drops to a water-based diffuser for a calming environment

For Horses, Cows, Goats 🐎🐄🐐
Topical use: Apply 4–6 drops along the spine or directly to the area of concern. Can be used diluted to cover a larger area.
Aromatic use: Let them smell directly from your hands or apply to halter or lead rope.

For Cats 🐈
Topical use: Diffusion is preferred but for safe topical use dilute to 0.5–1% and apply 1 drop along the spine by petting or on the ear tips. Add to your natural pest spray for outdoor cats!
Aromatic use: Add 2–3 drops to a diffuser and leave the room door open so they can leave if they wish.

*Geranium is also one of my go-to oils for birds & poultry and rabbits & pocket pets!

This is one of those oils that quietly does a LOT. It’s gentle but powerful. Floral but functional. Calming but protective.
