Silverlinings Friends,
This post has been a difficult one to write.
Some of you might already be aware, but our community lost a true champion, Aarathy Kumar, to pancreatic cancer late last year.
Aarathy’s family and friends grieved her passing, but I realise that in my own grief, the wider community in which she was such an active member, hadn’t had the same opportunity. For this, I deeply apologise.
Aarathy was a partner in Silverlinings, and the Managing Director for The Learning Clinic prior to that. She dedicated her adult life to families affected by autism related disorders, behavioural challenges and learning difficulties. She was clinically trained and delivered Applied Behaviour Analysis therapy for many years before taking on the administrative responsibilities of the company. Her unwavering support to families and colleagues was matched only by her motivation to continue learning in order to assist those around her, which she did, even as her health declined.
In addition to creating a successful working partnership, Aarathy and I also shared our lives for the last 18 years and have two wonderful children to show for it! They’ve been my priority over the last few months, which explains the lack of activity on this page.
However, as my children and I learn to navigate a world without our compass, my silver lining is you; a community I’ve worked in for over 25 years. It’s the families, teachers, and professionals, who have taught me everything I know so far! I’ve always loved what I do, and now, I have the privilege to return to it.
Please be patient as I take on the administrative and technological reins that Aarathy so expertly held. If you’d like to get in touch, please email me at karen@silverliningsaba.com.au.
I look forward to being a part of your team.
