A true legend of Wheelchair Sport!

Today we proudly celebrate David Hall on his induction into the Wheelchair Tennis Hall of Champions.

After a life-changing car accident in 1986, David’s journey into Wheelchair Tennis began with a photo in his local newspaper featuring Wheelchair Sports NSW/ACT Life Member Terry Mason. That moment sparked one of the greatest careers in wheelchair tennis history.

Across 20 years, David claimed more than 80 tournament wins and competed in four Paralympic Games, bringing home six medals, including Australia’s first men’s singles gold. He was ranked world No.1 for eight years and won the Australian Open Wheelchair Tennis title nine times, the British Open seven times, the US Open eight times, and the Japan Open eight times.

David also played a pivotal role in growing Wheelchair Tennis in Australia, inspiring generations of athletes to follow.

We celebrate you, David Hall OAM, a champion on and off the court.

Our Story

Since 1961, Wheelchair Sports NSW has been dedicated to enriching the lives of people with a disability through participation in sport. We recognise that sports changes people's lives. Sport is a powerful rehabilitation tool for those who have suffered catastrophic injury, and a strong integrating force for those with a disability living in a predominately able bodied society. For many people, participation in wheelchair sport is also an important pathway to social connection or rejoining the community following a catastrophic injury and/or illness, for forming friendships and increasing confidence, social skills and education, along with overall motivation, determination and courage. We provide sporting programs, equipment, financial assistance and professional support staff to members from 8-80 years of age so they can enjoy the enriching benefits of sport.
