What a week!!!

And that’s nearly a wrap on Speech Pathology Week 2025! This year’s theme was ‘Impact through communication’. We have been reminded how communication is the key to so much: Connection Confidence Inclusion Opportunity Well-being At TLC this week we were thrilled to be able to celebrate with cupcakes at the centres, the hosting of at and we also had a beautiful catch up with local speechies .wine.bar.milton from all over the Shoalhaven and Eurobodalla including Katrina from Katrina Walsh Speech Pathology, Claire from , Kellie from and Kate from NSW Health along with a couple of the TLC speechies. A huge thank you to every speech pathologist, allied health professional, teacher, client and family member who help shine a light on the true impact of our profession.

Welcome Jess! The team at TLC is excited to welcome our newest Occupational Therapist to our community. Jess is a passionate OT who has recently relocated with her family to the beautiful South Coast. She holds a Bachelor of Health Science and Masters of Occupational Therapy from Western Sydney University and has a foundation in mental health Occupational Therapy, previously working extensively with adults who have complex mental health needs. During her studies, she had the opportunity to complete research around mental health for teenagers with disabilities and is so excited to be shifting her area of practice into the paediatric space. She has a passion for building meaningful connections and is excited to be partnering closely with children and their families/carers to create practical, empowering strategies that support children in developing their independence, confidence, and everyday skills. She is a mother of two young girls and loves spending time with her family at the beach, reading books and playing touch football. Welcome to TLC Jess!!

Bonnie is a passionate Occupational Therapist who has recently moved to the South Coast from Sydney’s Northern Beaches where she worked in a paediatric clinic for over 2 years. Bonnie uses a strengths based and family centred approach to help her clients and families reach their goals and potential. Prior to becoming an Occupational Therapist, Bonnie worked as an Allied Health Assistant, a School Learning Support Officer (SLSO) and as a surf instructor which all provided invaluable experience. Bonnie loves to spend time in nature and outdoors, especially surfing, playing a range of sports, going to the beach, going for bush walks and spending time with family and friends. She is working full time at our Milton centre.

Firstly, we hope everyone is safe this morning. It has been quite a night and we know many have not had much sleep. There is flooding, power outages and roads closed.
Our Sanctuary Point centre will be closed for face to face sessions. Telehealth sessions will be available where possible (pending electricity). Take care and please call the centre in Milton 44552152 if you need to chat with us.

Back by popular demand! Our amazing certified practicing speech pathologists at Bay & Basin TLC are running a communication camp these spring school holidays!

The camp is open to children aged 5-10 years with speech, language and social skills goals and will include 4 hours of group play-based enrichment activities.

Dates: 8th October (older group 8-10 year olds) 9am-1pm, 9th October (younger group 5-7 year olds) 9am-1pm.

This week at Milton TLC we had McKaii from join us for her Business Services work placement where she has completed a range of administrative tasks as well as joining in on some therapy sessions. McKaii has enjoyed learning about the TLC business and all the services we offer, as she would like to peruse a career in allied health once she has finished high school.

Welcome Michelle! Michelle has joined the support team at Milton TLC after having 10 years of experience working in administrative workplaces, we are very lucky to have her here. Michelle has a certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping, Bachelor of Nursing and Graduate Diploma of Midwifery as well as experience in the health and manufacturing sector and she is very excited to bring that knowledge to TLC.

The new faces continue at TLC. We are very excited to announce that we have Joh joining us part time at the Bay and Basin centre in Sanctuary Point. Joh is a dedicated and passionate child psychologist and play therapist. We feel so happy to have her join us as she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team. Joh will begin with primarily assessments and recommendations for families. She will also be supporting the Early Intervention Therapy Team. Joh comes to us with experience working in diverse settings including schools, private practice and internationally has worked in Bali, Christmas Island, Nauru and Jordan. She has a strong understanding of trauma, the impact on families and has a deep commitment to nurturing the wellbeing of children.
Joh is also the mumma to three little people.

We are delighted to announce that we have a new Early Intervention Therapist and Specialist Educator at Bay & Basin TLC! Marie joins us with over 12 years of experience teaching in Schools for Specific Purposes and over 11 years of experience as a support worker, team leader and manager for respite and community access programs. She has a Bachelor of Education, Cert. IV in Auslan and is deeply committed to AAC (augmentative and alternative communication). She looks to a neuro-inclusive approach by bringing together communication, sensory regulation and emotional regulation to help her clients thrive in a neurotypical world. We are so excited to have Marie on the team!
