Breathing room on Fridays 5-6pm is not only about our breathwork class. Afterwards we enjoy chats and sharing about all good health vibes.
Our breakfast was a part of the chat last night. We always start with cooked granny smith apple with lots cinnamon. We follow about an hour later after our yoga with our sweet potato toast.
Here’s a pic of one of our winter treats.
Sweet potato baked. Topping is a smashed edamame with seaweed and cucumber. On top is avocado and alfalfa ( home sprouting) and drizzle tahini. On the side is my baked carrot hommus made with cannellini beans and spices.
Life is so great being vegan 🩷

☀️ This week’s Breathing Room is full of wonders! ☀️

Come and experience these postures as well as many other beautiful side-lying somatic and yoga poses to release the sides of your body, and alleviate tension in your shoulders, hips and spine.
With these poses, we enhance ribcage mobility and function of the diaphragm; including the intercostals and other muscles needed for respiration. All these breath practices soothe the nervous system and help us move with more grace and fluidity.

Planting Seeds of Inner Peace

We have only ONE PLACE AVAILABLE in this week’s Breathing Room, in which our focus is on supine breathwork. When we practice breathing exercises in the supine position, we improve lung capacity and breathing efficiency, as it can help engage our diaphragm more. Effectively, allowing for deeper and more efficient breaths. Enhanced diaphragm engagement, helps to improve lung capacity and oxygen uptake, making it easier to release carbon dioxide and other waste products. It can be particularly beneficial for those who have lumbar compression, back tightness and neck and upper-trapezius limitations. The added bonus is that we activate the body’s relaxation response! And help to lower stress hormones like cortisol.
This practice can provide the mind and body with greater self-awareness and improved emotional regulation.

The focus of Kundalini Yoga is to break through blocks in the energetic pathways of our bodies that result from our postural and emotional habits and history. When our energy flows freely and easily we feel balanced, grounded and connected to ourselves and the universe.
A regular kundalini yoga practice also strengthens the nervous system and balances the glandular system, leading to increased emotional stability and physical vitality. Negative patterns and habits drop away, and creativity flourishes.

Breathing Room provides the means to re-integrate all aspects of our being. Breathing and pranayama methods for the Life-Force (Prana) can be activated or regulated in order to go beyond one’s normal boundaries or limitations and attain a higher state of vibratory energy and awareness.
In the Chāndogya Upanisad, the connection between the breath and the mind is illustrated through an analogy:
“A bird, which is tied by a string flies in all directions, returns to its point of bo***ge, as it does not reach any place of refuge. Similarly, the mind flies off in all directions and, on not reaching any other place to stay, returns to the breath. This is because the mind is tied to the breath.”

I invite you to experience the joys of your breath, this Friday! All levels welcome!
