🌀 Progress is not linear, and yoga is not just about making shapes, becoming more flexible or strong… so it makes sense that after four weeks of focussed and consistent practice we would end up here - in Tadasana!
One of the great things about going away on a longer retreat is that we didn’t have to rush through poses and sequences, like a checklist of things to do.
We worked slowly and deeply, and were able to return to the poses and practices which called for our attention - not just to do and learn more, but in some instances to unlearn and do less…
For me, over this month, practicing Utkatasana really helped me understand the idea of ‘sitting back into myself’ rather than projecting forward, and while it’s certainly not the first time I’ve practiced chair pose, something certainly shifted. It remains one of the trickiest poses for my body, but I feel that there is a new intelligence and thread of connection made somewhere deep inside… that spark of curiosity and hope is lit and that’s what keeps me going!
🤷🏻♀️ I’m very much feeling like I just know more of what I don’t know, and that I’m still only a baby yogi - and while that may seem daunting or frustrating after sooo many years, there is also a great relief in realising I don’t have to know it all and be perfect, in letting go of expectations and accepting where I am in this moment.
📸 Thanks for capturing these magical moments.
