Every year we find more and more pieces to the puzzle, and every year the world gets more and more inclusive. Did you know that has sensory hours each day so shopping does not have to be overstimulating? 💙💙💙

Life has been anything but straight forward recently, lots of fear, lots of uncertainty. I love looking back at days like this and knowing I will be back rambling away on the radio again soon.
A little flashback to being on the radio talking about children’s nutrition and emotional regulation.

It’s strange how quickly life can shift.

Right now things feel very different here, and like many families, we’re taking things day by day. But the work hasn’t changed.

Parents everywhere are still trying to support children with:
– big emotions
– sleep struggles
– overwhelm

And often, there’s more going on underneath than what we’re told.

Whether I’m in a home or working quietly online, I’m still doing the same thing:
helping parents understand what’s really driving their child’s behaviour.

If you’re navigating this with your child, you’re not alone 🤍

Even if you don’t prioritise your own wellbeing, your kids rely on you for regulation.

Right now, big wellness exercises probably feel too much.

So try these-
Light a candle or oil that smell nice
Play music
Why? Your olfactory senses are strong they hold memories of safety, and you can do these small things to signal to your brain that all is well..

Eat.

Protein every 3 hours if you can.

If you can’t eat/cook, have something you can manage delivered.

Have a cup of relaxing tea.

Hydrate- when last did you drink water?

Switch off from world news and watch a familiar show. There is safety in knowing the ending. 💕💕

Imagine you’re giving advice to another parent.. what would you tell them?

Think of something else they couldn’t or wouldn’t do when they were little but now can.

List all the things they can do now and the things they love and what makes them great.

Decide whether your issue with not being able to do “the thing” yet is something you truly feel, or is it because society says they should be able to, or because you just don’t want them to be singled out or judged.

It’s incredibly powerful to remember that despite what family, teachers, neighbours say, it’s your child and you’re generally the only one in charge of what’s important.

If it’s not important to you, let it go for now. You can come back to it.

If it’s something you want to prioritise, reach out to those who can help you, and make a plan.

Teachers, therapists whichever expert you feel can give you some support.

And remember, I am here in person or online to help give you support that can so often help you with that big shift.

PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) is
an anxiety-driven nervous system response, not ‘bad behaviour’.

Many children show signs of experiencing it, and it can feel like butting heads all day every day for parents.

The thing is it is not mere disobedience… for your child a simple request can make them feel super frustrated and resentful, and cause them to act out or melt down over something you felt was small and reasonable.

It’s usually described through a psychological lens — and rightly so.

But nervous systems are biological too.

In my work as a paediatric nutritionist, I often see children with PDA traits who are:
• running on unstable blood sugar
• low in key calming minerals
• reacting to additives or food chemicals
• carrying gut inflammation that keeps the body on high alert

Nutrition doesn’t replace psychology.
It supports regulation, lowers the stress load, and creates more room for safety and connection.

If you’re parenting a child who seems constantly “on edge”, you’re not failing — their body may just need support.

I work with families online internationally and here in Qatar using a nervous-system-first, science backed approach.

As you all know, I have always taken my role as someone put here to help make children’s lives easier very seriously. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, as a clinician and as a mother, just like you I can’t bear to see children suffering. So this is a reminder that all of my courses still give 10% of proceeds to the to help children in conflict. This will never change. So when we help your children we will help theirs (in a tiny way) too.

Do you want to find answers for your child?

If you’ve found yourself crying over wanting to help your child, and really not knowing where to start, please know you’re not alone. And neither is your child. But you do need support, and some help in the right direction. That’s why I offer home visits, long, long term support at no extra cost and extremely individualised treatment plans that are made for anyone to follow. I also have an incredible support network so if you’re also wondering about the best psychologist, Occupational Therapist or Speech Pathologist to help your child please just ask.

After 20 years of working with children and families in their homes, I know how important it is to make things as easy as possible otherwise it would be yet another impossible task served up to an already overwhelmed parent.

Like so many mums, that overwhelm is something I recognise in myself, thats why I designed my service to help.

After looking to Nutritional Science for my own family’s answers, I was desperate to help other Mama’s striving to find answers. I studied Nutritional Medicine and focused on conditions like ADHD, anxiety and ASD, so I could find ways to help families piece together their health. If you need some support yourself, please also let me know as I also help exhausted mums find ways to manage their energy levels (and sanity) and have a support group so you can meet your tribe. All consultations can be covered by most major private health funds too, so it may be one less thing to manage.
