We see you in such intimate ways, we can hold you in your entirety, until we can’t. Please don’t take offence by our absence. It is not a reflection of our lack of love for you, but of our capacity. So let me tell you about this drum! I met its creator at Tanglewood yesterday, he was just passing through. He was a shaman, and he was so grounded. As we spoke, I knew he was someone I could speak to for hours.
“You have wolf energy”, I observed. And he smiled.
My other healing business is called Grey Wolf Healing.
“You are the grey wolf”, I observed. For I could feel it. His soul told me. Next thing you know, his phone rings and his ring tone is a wolf howling! We laughed.
We got to talking about how he makes drums. How he is a carpenter by trade and that his drums have thirteen sides to honour the thirteen cycles of the moon. Given the moon and I are great friends, this touches me deeply. He asks if I’d like to see some of his drums - and well, I end up buying one.
I knew the minute I saw it that it was for me. It pulled at my Soul, like a soulmate. The patterning on the dear skin felt alive. I could see the milky way in it - I could see the antlered one. But when I played it - the tears flowed. The deer are deeply connected to the Fae. I saw myself playing this drum in moon circles under the wide open sky. I felt like I wanted to sing.
I did not have plans to buy another drum - but this one feels like an old friend returning to me. A magical partner in my soul journey.
