There are many ways in which yoga supports the health of the lungs. For instance, practising yoga postures helps build strength and flexibility in the muscles surrounding the lungs. When these poses are combined with mindful breathing, they also engage and strengthen the entire respiratory system. Then there are the nervous system benefits of pranayama, the traditional yogic practice of breath control: slow, deep breathing can increase the relaxation response, as well as improve heart rate variability.
Join us this month as we support the healthy function of our lungs 🧘‍♀️

The knees are remarkable joints that allow us to walk, run and stay active. They also play a key role in adjusting how we perform tasks - like lifting heavy objects - to prevent strain in areas such as the back or hamstrings. However, the knees don’t work alone; how well they function depends on their relationship with the feet, hips, pelvis, and lower back.
Unfortunately, knee pain is a common issue for many people. This April, we’ll be focusing on all things related to knee health and exploring ways to better support these essential joints. Come along - your knees will appreciate it! 💕

One of the many things I love about yoga is actually what sets it apart from most forms of exercise. While it certainly benefits the physical body - promoting flexibility, supporting joint stability, and improving muscle tone - the real transformation happens when we learn to regulate the nervous system and cultivate a deeper sense of calm.
These days, we are constantly inundated with concerns, both global and personal, that can leave us feeling unsettled, or worse. Over the coming month, we will explore a variety of somatic practices designed to help ease stress and reduce anxiety.

Throughout February, our focus is on the sacrum and sacroiliac joints. This area plays an important role in stabilising the pelvis while still allowing enough movement for everyday actions like balance. For a variety of reasons, it can also be a common source of discomfort. This month we’ll explore ways to support sacral stability without exploiting the mobility of the joint.

Ever feel tired of the pressure to make New Year’s resolutions? That feeling of setting goals only to fall short can make you wonder "what's the point?" A new calendar year doesn’t magically change our lives, but it can offer a useful pause to reflect. So how do we make resolutions that actually feel supportive?
For the next few weeks, we’ll be exploring simple ways to weave more mindful movement and yoga into your daily routine. And as a little January gift for new students, your first session is on me 🧘‍♀️

Christmas can be full of joy, connection and celebration, but it can also bring stress and emotional expectations. As we head into December, we’ll be looking at how yoga can help you find the deep rest you need to move through the holiday season with more ease.

These hips are made for moving - walking, dancing, swimming, playing tennis, you name it! Whatever you love to do, healthy hips make it all easier. They’re big, powerful joints with loads of potential for movement. In yoga, the focus is often only on flexibility but it’s just as important - especially if you’re hypermobile - to build strength around them too. This month, we’ll work on finding that balance: keeping the hips mobile and strong with the kindness & appreciation that they deserve 💗

The core is a major focus in the fitness world, often associated with the pursuit of a sculpted six-pack (it’s surprisingly hard to find an image that shows otherwise!). But what does “the core” really mean in the context of yoga? Over the coming weeks, we’ll explore how the core influences everything from strength and balance to energy, digestion, and even how we connect with ourselves.

Modern life takes a toll on our neck and shoulders. You may have heard the term text or tech neck - where the head is tilted forward & down for extended periods of time looking at devices. This posture, and the not inconsiderable weight of the head put excessive strain on the muscles which often leads to pain or stiffness. Add stress into the mix, and tension quickly builds.
So how can yoga help? If you have neck or shoulder pain, I recommend checking with your doctor first. Then, using small, slow, mindful movements gives your nervous system positive feedback. Focusing on the exhale helps to activate the relaxation response and release tension. The key: don’t overdo it.
Join us this month for some soothing neck & shoulder TLC! 🧘‍♀️
