Subtle is Powerfull
A simple yet pervasive principle.
Explored through the body: When we slow down, lower our tone and give more and more into a suporting surface, we find our capacity to sense and feel greatly enhanced.
Becoming much more quiet, we become much more receptive, and the subtle becomes powerful. You begin to notice from where you move, how an impulse starts, feels, and travels through... what's its effects are...
Encouraged to Attend to yourself with a kind and subtle 'Global Awareness' you begin to notice -
Where you are stuck, where you are free , where there is a smooth harmony and where there are contradictory forces hindering your pathway
Subtle is powerful in so many ways, mainly, that it is the building block for all greater expressions. To understand this, by being attentive to the subtle influences behind your movements is what we train in Awareness Through Movement (classes) and apply in Functional Integration (private sesisons)
The experiential discovery of movement, feeling, thought and sensation in the field of subtly can open many new relms of possability. Conscious embodied change.
Where we can recover, discover and refine our ability to do and be- from a most mundane, Functional basis- into the most novel, unique and meaningful activities. It really is up to you.
One can actually improve remarkably effective without pain, pushing or force. Which is truely amazing.
BUT when you have an issue that disempowers your ability to do what you love, you might, after some time, calcify a believe that you will not get better or "this is just how just how it is, iv tried" and close down your options.
If this is you or someone you know - It may be benefitial to know that this method of change, improvement and process is absolutely available and possible for you but please be aware, that it will still fall into the domain of self responsibility, working with who and what you are In an honest and open way, in any any given moment- ideally without judgement and in response ...
it is a practise and a process
but this I would say is one of the most subtle and powerful transformative practises we can cultivate as human beings, and not just for our movement freedom but for our emotions, relationships and thinking too. Since they all come together and effect one another.
So yes - Feldenkrais is for adaptable wellbeing and Awareness Through moment is a formal context to explore all of this :) It is for every body- come as you are - and is complimentary to most other practises like yoga, Thai chi, judo, athletics, dance, surfing, gardening , walking, etc
Its also very compatible with artists- artistic exploration and thinking, to think with the body and explore the many diverse neural pathways In and Through the Body that will inevitably have an impact on your art flow and form .
Of Corse its good for the human who simply wishes to try somthing new - feel better-good- different, recover Function, relax more, rest better and explore themelfes in a safe and supported environment.
Functional Integration sessions are one to one (table touch supported ) thus will be most potent and specific to you, while ATM is absolutely foundational - they compliment each other beautifully.
