Rooted in Norse Pagan and Shamanic traditions, this experiential day workshop focuses on 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗹-𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 and an 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝘂𝗻𝗲𝘀. Using ancient Shamanic Drumming and Mesmer-Vision Quest, we guide participants into altered states of awareness that 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘅 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆, 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 to arise easily.

This workshop is centred on direct experience rather than belief. It is non-judgemental, non-competitive, and suitable for complete beginners through to experienced practitioners. It’s an ideal way to experience our work before committing to our full IICT recognised Shamanic Practitioner level training.

The Introduction to Shamanism course is an introductory level for people who would like to gain insights and experiences into the world of the shaman.

A common misconception that has irked me for a while now and is a bit of a shame. Is that when people think of Norse myths and culture, Vikings, and gods like Odin, Thor, Freya, etc, they usually think these are isolated only to Scandinavia and Iceland.

This great map below shows how limited that view really is. What we think of as Norse culture actually goes waaaay beyond Scandinavia, which is only one small slice of a much older and much larger culture and spiritual tradition that influenced Europe 1000 years before the Scandinavian Vikings even showed up.

All of these tribal cultures are better grouped under the broader term “Germanic.” (Just to be clear, “Germanic” has nothing to do with modern Germany 🇩🇪. It is simply a linguistic and cultural term.) The word “Norse” technically really only applies to Scandinavia.

These tribes mostly shared the same culture we would recognise as “Viking.” They lived in similar great halls and longhouses, worshipped many of the same gods and goddesses, and spoke closely related languages like Old English, Old Saxon, Old High German and more. These languages all came from the same origins as the Old Norse language the Vikings spoke, and were even similar enough that with some practice, they mostly would have been able to understand each other!

And even this map does not show the full picture. It is only a snapshot in time. In the next couple of centuries these peoples and cultures would go on to cover all of France, Italy (which was ruled by the Ostrogoths and Lombards), as well as large parts of Eastern Europe. Russia was even named after the Germanic Rus people.

So whether your roots are in Scandinavia, the British Isles, or as far away as Spain, Italy, or Eastern Europe, you also likely had ancestors who carved runes, fought in shield walls, and prayed to Odin, Thor, and Freya!

We don’t create the spirit world, we’re surrounded by it. We don’t create consciousness, we receive it and are influenced by it, the Collective Unconscious.

What if your thoughts are not created by you?

Psychologists are exploring the idea that thoughts are not consciously created but instead arise automatically from deeper brain processes. Brain imaging shows neural activity begins before we are aware of a thought, suggesting awareness follows rather than initiates thinking. This supports the idea that the mind may receive thoughts rather than generate them intentionally.

Are you feeding your soul what it needs?

In our courses and in our book “Runes: The Secret Healer”, we talk about how vital it is to understand and give your soul what it NEEDS in order to gain healing, self-empowerment, and spiritual evolution.

We emphasize the word NEEDS because, in our society, we often confuse what we WANT with what we NEED. So we end up running around trying to fulfill our wants, but we never really progress or feel any happier, because we never gave ourselves what we actually NEEDED. Our needs, especially our SOUL needs, are vastly more important than our wants.

This can be a hard concept for people to truly understand, especially when it comes to knowing the difference between a want and a need. That’s why we highly recommend watching this great episode of The Twilight Zone called “What You Need”. It illustrates the idea perfectly in a really cool way!

One of Odin's many names in Old Norse is "Runni vagna", which translates as "Mover of Constellations".

Never compare yourself to others, or seek to be equal with others. We each have our own unique fate and spiritual path, given to us by the Norns (the ancient goddesses of Fate in Norse paganism, equivalent to the Moirai or Fates of Ancient Greece) at our birth.

To truly respect and honour ourselves, we must also accept and honour what the Norns have chosen for us. We do this by being true and authentic to who we are. Not by trying to be something we are not.
