Happy New Year. There’s lots of talk at this time of the year about goals. A word that personally makes me cringe. Not that goals are categorically bad, they can be a useful planning and progress strategy. However, some of the time they can exacerbate anxiety through unrealistic expectations and lead to feelings of failure and even hopelessness.

Lockdown Tip #13 Planned Collapse. It’s ok to not rush back out into the big world, it’s ok for that to be an overwhelming prospect, it’s ok to ‘collapse’ (sleep, hide, tv, read, cry, vent, hug) and then slowly re-emerge.

Lockdown Tip #12 Take Notice. If we can slow down, step outside the stories on repeat in our heads we may notice little wonders around us. This brings us into the present moment, giving us respite from our worries of the past or anxieties about the future.
