💭 All pain is real — but it’s not what we once believed!

Pain was once thought to be a simple message from injured tissue. But science now tells us it’s more complex — all pain is produced by the brain.

It’s your brain’s interpretation of the information it receives, influenced by everything happening in and around you.

🌡️ Things like anxiety, stress, poor sleep, low movement, or even past injuries can turn pain up.
🌿 Meanwhile, quality sleep, good nutrition, regular exercise, social connection, and a positive outlook can turn pain down.

We can’t always control what happens to us, but we can control how we respond.
The more we understand pain, the less power it has. 🙌🏼

How can Chinese Medicine help you?

Chinese Medicine looks at the body as a whole, focusing on restoring balance and supporting your natural ability to heal. Through treatments like acupuncture, cupping, herbal medicine, and dietary advice, it may help:

• Relieve pain – easing tension, inflammation, and muscle soreness.

• Reduce stress & improve sleep – calming the nervous system and supporting mental wellbeing.

• Boost digestion & energy – helping your body process food better and maintain steady energy levels.

• Support women’s health – from menstrual issues to pre- and post-natal care.

• Enhance recovery – whether from injury, illness, or day-to-day fatigue.

Chinese Medicine works best by treating both symptoms and the root cause, giving your body the tools it needs to function at its best.

✨ What’s the difference between Myotherapy & Remedial Massage? ✨

👉 Myotherapy
Myotherapists complete an Advanced Diploma or go on to study a Bachelor of Health Science (Myotherapy). This means more in-depth training, a broader range of treatment techniques, and advanced clinical reasoning to support complex injuries and pain conditions.

👉 Remedial Massage
Remedial massage therapists complete a Diploma, and many add extra short courses—like dry needling and cupping—which are also commonly used by myotherapists.

🔑 The key difference?
It mostly comes down to education and scope of practice—but both are dedicated to helping you move better, reduce pain, and feel your best. 💪✨

💪 Why We Love Fitness Challenges (and Why Your Body Does Too!) 💪

Well into our first month of Spring and there are plenty of challenges popping up! So let’s see why they are so great for you.

Fitness challenges aren’t just about ticking boxes – they create real, lasting changes in your body’s physiology:

✨ Strength & Resilience – Regular movement builds muscle and strengthens joints, reducing risk of injury.

✨ Mobility & Recovery – Stretch-based challenges improve flexibility, ease stiffness, and support better posture.

✨ Circulation & Healing – Consistent activity boosts blood flow, helping your body repair and recover more efficiently.

✨ Stress Release – Daily movement regulates stress hormones, supports sleep, and lifts your mood.

✨ Healthy Habits – Challenges make exercise part of your routine – and that’s where long-term benefits really kick in!

At Seaford Myotherapy, we see the difference in clients who move regularly – stronger bodies, quicker recovery, and less pain long-term.

Are you joining a fitness challenge this month? We’d love to cheer you on! 🙌

Acute pain

Acute pain is short-term pain that comes on suddenly and is usually caused by an injury, surgery, or illness. It’s your body’s natural response to harm — like an alarm system alerting you something’s wrong.

⏱️ Key Features:
• Lasts a few seconds to a few weeks or months
• Usually goes away once the cause is treated or healed
• Often sharp, intense, or throbbing
• Easy to pinpoint the cause (like a cut, sprain, or infection)

📍Examples:
• Sprained ankle
• Broken bone
• Surgery recovery
• Dental work
• Burns or cuts

✅ Why it matters:

Acute pain is protective — it stops you from doing more damage and encourages rest and healing. But if untreated, it can sometimes turn into chronic pain.
