Messy, but Real. Mono Meal.

If you’ve ever heard this term but wondered what it meant, behold the mono meal (sorry to all my vegetarian and vegan friends). Meat and one veg.

The way our ancestors likely ate their meals because do you really think they would have been, like, “who was on peas, beans, broccoli and potato tonight”?

Truth is they most likely ate a lot of plant material, but when they had a successful hunt it was meat, meat and, that’s right, more meat, plus any veg someone might have gathered that day, but certainly not essential.

And let’s focus on that word “essential”. We’ve been hoodwinked into thinking we need to fill our complete nutritional (vitamin and mineral) needs EVERY SINGLE DAY! Seriously?

How is that even possible unless you supplement yourself to the eyeballs. But think about it. Does that even sound natural?

Our ancestors certainly didn’t go about filling their nutritional needs on a daily basis. They didn’t have an RDI that tallied up their vitamin and mineral intake at every meal. And yet they not only survived, they thrived.

And before you go thinking, yeah, but their average age was probably somewhere around their 50s, just remember they didn’t have any of the types of weaponry we can now lay claim to in order to keep the predator animals at bay. Or any of the medical intervention that stops an injury becoming a life threatening event. AND how do you think you got here??? Just saying.

So my point is, don’t think you have to create the rainbow on your plate at every single meal sitting. As long as you do it over the course of a month, you’re going to make sure your body gets all the nutrients it needs to thrive at its absolute best.

And always make sure you buy the best quality you can get your hands on:
• Wild caught if possible
• Pasture raised and finished
• Organic.

The better the quality, the higher the nutrient content and lower the toxicity and the less you need to get everything you need. Makes sense, right?
