We have some exciting news.

On 1 April 2025 at 7pm AWST CAPable Hearing Solutions are hosting on online screening of the documentary “Between Two Ear”

In celebration of International APD awareness day on 1/4/2025 (it’s no joke!) we will journey with Matt Hay (Author of Soundtrack of Silence) on his path to hearing again.

‘Between two Ears’ is a short documentary following an inspirational story uncovering the impact of auditory processing disorder, the challenges associated with it and overcoming them.

This is a great opportunity to watch this documentary to gain a further understanding of auditory processing disorder, and the impact it has not only on the patient but also those around them. Please join us in recognizing the profound impact of rewiring the brain through Matt Hay’s transformative journey through the guidance of Dr. Angela Alexander.

We will be streaming this, so you can watch in the comfort of your own home for just $5 USD ($8 AUD) per ticket, only one ticket needed per device. This will be streamed at 7pm on Tuesday 1st April for a one-time viewing. If you would like to participate, please follow the link below to purchase a ticket.

Do you or a loved one struggle in background noise in restaurants? There is research and app development that could help this in the future. Please fill in the survey to help gain as much data as possible.

Have you ever struggled to hear your dinner companions in an eatery because of background noise? 🤔

⭐ Exciting News! Abstract Accepted! ⭐
I’ll be presenting the findings from this research study at the National Audiology Australia Conference in April 2025, and we need your help!

PLUS We’re working WITH the hospitality industry to make dining more hearing-friendly and we need YOUR help!

They reached out to us because they want to do better. We’re going to educate them on how to be more inclusive for the one in six Australians with hearing loss.

This Australia wide survey helps us understand how noise impacts your dining experience. Your input will directly help us shape our education packages to assist restaurants in becoming more inclusive and enjoyable for everyone. 🕊️

🌟 Your input could create quieter, more inclusive dining experiences for everyone! If people don't participate, the hospitality industry will assume no issue needs addressing 🤷‍♀️

📊 Take the survey today and help us create a change, or tag someone who loves dining out but finds it too lively.

Together, we can make a change!

**Survey extended to end of January to ensure more responses**

So true. And speaks to the heart of what we do at CAPable Hearing Solutions.

It’s baffling. In a world where clinicians passionately argue for the superiority of their services over over-the-counter solutions, I’m constantly asked about apps for treating complex conditions like auditory processing disorder (APD). 🤔

If you injured your shoulder would you download an app to fix it? Of course not! You would work with a trained physical therapist or other medical doctor.

Yet, in Audiology, we seem to be heading down a path where we expect technology to be a quick fix for everything, even intricate health concerns.

Have we gotten lazy with our healthcare?

As an audiologist and owner of a digital APD treatment product, I see both sides. I’m thrilled about technical advancements like streamlined reporting that saves me hours. But no matter how advanced tech gets, it can’t replace the human connection for the relational work we do. At some point in the auditory training process things get really hard and you need someone who can guide you through it.

We need to preserve the “deep work”—the personalized care that truly makes a difference. I’d much rather hear, “Do you know who does this work in my area?” than “What app can I use?” When someone asks about an app, it suggests they believe in a one-size-fits-all solution. (By the way, you can find the nearest clinician to you here: www.APDsupport.com/apdmap.)

The truth is, those of us who provide high level auditory training are irreplaceable. We tailor programs to each individual’s needs, paving the way for meaningful improvements in their lives. We walk the journey with them which creates richness in their lives and a meaningful career for us.

Let’s not lose sight of the importance of human connection and comprehensive treatment in healthcare. While digital tools can be valuable adjuncts, they can never replace the expertise and personalized care of a trained professional.
