📢 Join us for Circle of Security at Tweddle in Wyndham.

Starting Monday, 28th July, our free Circle of Security Parenting Program is here to support mums, dads, and carers of children aged 0–6.

✨Join us at Tweddle’s Wyndham Early Parenting Centre and build stronger, more secure relationships with your child in a safe, supportive space and make new friends.

✨The attachment between child and caregiver is critical to a child’s current and future well-being. University-based studies show that secure children have increased empathy, greater self-esteem, better relationships with parents and peers, enter school more ready to learn, and are able to manage their emotions.

Through the training, parents and carers will learn about:

◾️Tuning in to your child’s world by reading their cues
◾️Understanding your child’s emotional needs
◾️Connecting with your child and enjoying being in the moment
◾️Strengthening your bond and attachment with your child
◾️Honouring your innate wisdom and desire for your child to be secure
◾️Supporting your child’s self-esteem and ability to successfully manage emotions.

Free program
🗓️ Starts Monday 28th July – 15th September

📢We are thrilled to announce our new Board of Directors.

Ms Annette Vickery has stepped down from her role as Chair, though she will continue to serve on the Board. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Annette for her leadership and dedication.

Ms Annette Mercuri was elected as Chair, unopposed, and we are pleased to congratulate her on this well-deserved appointment. Having previously served as Deputy Chair, Annette has made significant contributions to our organisation over the past five years, and we look forward to her continued leadership in this new capacity.

Joining her in leadership as Deputy Chair is, Ms Kylie Scoullar who has been on the Tweddle Board since July 2022.

Ms Jennifer Lang continues in her role as Treasurer. Sadly, we have farewelled Ms Jane Price, whose term concluded on 30th June.

We thank Jane for her commitment and valuable contribution during her tenure.

We are also very pleased to welcome Ms Cleona Feuerring as a new Tweddle Director. Cleona is the Legal Director of the Family Violence and Family Law Program at Westjustice, a prominent community legal centre in Melbourne.

This week’s announcement of an investigation into sexual abuse at childcare centres across Melbourne will be deeply distressing for many members of our community, including parents and carers, others working in early childhood education and care, and those from right across the social and community services sector who work to uplift children’s safety and wellbeing every day.

If you, your loved ones or colleagues are struggling with this news – you’re not alone.

Sexual Assault Services Victoria has set up a page with resources including phone crisis lines, a list of sexual assault services across Victoria, online videos and frequently asked questions for parents.

🌙 Need help with your little one's sleep? You're not alone.

At Tweddle, we understand that sleep challenges are common for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. Tweddle’s suite of Sleep and Settling Fact Sheets support parents, carers and health professionals. They provide:

✨Solutions to common sleep concerns tailored to babies, toddlers and preschoolers

✨Resources in nine community languages, including Arabic, Mandarin, Vietnamese, and more, to ensure accessibility for all families.

Sleep is crucial for your baby or child's growth, learning, and emotional well-being. By establishing healthy sleep habits early on, you can foster better sleep for the whole family.

📞 Our team of Early Parenting Practitioners are here to provide additional support through our Day Stay and Residential programs, and In-Home support.

Visit Tweddle’s Sleep and Settling resources page to explore our full range of support. These Fact Sheets are also published on the Better Health Channel.

🎥 Play is the language of babies 🧸
At Tweddle, we know play builds confidence, agency, curiosity and healthy brain development.

That’s why we developed the ‘Building Blocks of Life: The Importance of Play in the First 5 Years’ video, a free resource for parents, carers and professionals working with families.

Developed by our award-winning HoPES team and created with , the animation supports all families, including those with low literacy or cognitive challenges, to connect with babies through play.

🥁Understanding the many different forms of play can be really empowering for parents, especially those experiencing adversity.

You can watch the full 4-minute video on Tweddle’s YouTube channel.

🤧A sick baby, toddler or young child can be very distressing.

The flu and RSV can be serious, and children are among the most at risk.

Did you know that respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the leading cause of infant hospitalisation in Australia?

☑️Fortunately, we know that flu vaccines are safe, effective and free for children under 5.

☑️Vaccination during pregnancy helps protect newborns by passing on antibodies, reducing the risk of severe RSV illness in infants under 6 months by about 70%.

☑️Eligible women from 28 to 36 weeks of pregnancy can now access a free vaccine through the National Immunisation Program (NIP).

☑️The RSV vaccine can safely be given at the same time as other vaccines recommended in pregnancy, including influenza, whooping cough, and COVID vaccines.

Book your flu, RSV or COVID vaccine through your doctor (GP), local council immunisation service, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation, or local pharmacy (for ages 5 years and older).

❤️We first met Fay Stankovich in 2011. Every year since, Fay has travelled across town with her beloved husband to deliver the most gorgeous hand knitted jumpers to keep Tweddle tots warm.

Fay's originally a Westie from Altona, and we love her. This year she has delivered 62 jumpers. This will ensure dozens of Tweddle bubs have a keepsake carefully selected by their parents with love.

Fay, thank you for wrapping our little ones in warmth. Your kindness means the world to us. ❤️

This Men’s Health Week, Tweddle celebrates the vital role of healthy, connected, and nurturing dads.

Research shows that when fathers are actively engaged, babies and children benefit with stronger emotional regulation, better social skills, improved cognitive development, and more secure attachments that last a lifetime.

The Association for Children with Disability (ACD) are planning another online Working Out Dads session for Fathers of kids with additional needs in July. Visit their website for more information.

We encourage Dads to explore our Residential and Day Stay programs or to visit Tweddle's Dads Online Resources page to find support that works for them.
