I have the most AMAZING news to share! 🧸

Our Northcote Early Parenting Centre will be run by the renowned Tweddle Child & Family Health Service!

Tweddle has over 100 years experience supporting families with their little ones.

Having their parenting expertise in Northcote will be extraordinary.

Once built, families will be able to stay for five nights at the centre getting hands on care.

They’ll help with everything from sleep and settling to behaviour and attachment.

All for free in our public health system. The way it should be.

Welcome to Northcote, Tweddle!

Tweddle is very excited to have been appointed as operators of the new EPC in Northcote!

We will be able to provide greater access to families in the inner north and beyond who need support with babies and children up to four years old across a range of challenges that come with those early years of parenting.

It is a privilege to bring over 100 years of experience and expertise in early parenting support to Northcote as part of the State Government's expansion of the sector.

Thank you Minister Blandthorn and Kat Theophanous MP for your advocacy and support of this wonderful addition to services for young families. We are very excited!

How does play strengthen attachment? 💞

Play and strengthening attachment are central to our Programs.

Through play, parents and caregivers build trust, learn to tune into their child’s cues, and create joyful shared experiences. 🤗

These moments help babies and toddlers feel safe, understood, and valued, important foundations for healthy emotional and social development. 💖

At Tweddle, we support families to discover the power of play as a tool for connection, confidence, and strengthened attachment. 🎨

Last week we celebrated the most fun event on the calendar - Book Week! 📖
This years theme was 'Book an Adventure' and as you can see a lot of us took up the challenge! 🎭
Reading to your little ones is so important, and we are lucky that our amazing Play Based Educators created reading activities for our clients all week to participate in and enjoy.📚
Can you figure out what book characters we were?

In the late 1980s, baby Anthony spent two years at the Tweddle Baby Hospital while his mum Mary received health care elsewhere. Mary always dreamed of helping other mothers facing adversity, and decades later, her wish became reality.

When Mary passed away recently, her family created a fundraiser through Tweddle’s GiveNow platform, raising nearly $18,000 from over 60 donors in her honour.

While organising the tribute, we unearthed a photo of toddler Anthony in Tweddle’s 1987 Annual Report, and incredibly, was able to reconnect him with Karen, the caring Mothercraft Nurse who looked after him all those years ago. She still works for Tweddle today!

Thank you to the family and everyone who contributed to this beautiful tribute, your generosity will continue helping parents and babies build safe and secure foundations. 💛

You may wish to make a donation to Tweddle of your own, at the link in bio.

Tweddle is proud to launch our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan 2025–2027.

Significantly, our RAP launch day is April 4th, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day, a reminder of how we at Tweddle have a role to play in contributing to First Nations children being proud in culture and being connected to kinship and Community.

Our Innovate RAP is a commitment to truth-telling, cultural safety and strong, respectful partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, communities and organisations.

Through actions grounded in respect, opportunity, and accountability, we walk together toward a more equitable future, starting in the early years of every child’s life.

We would like to thank Reconciliation Australia, our RAP Committee, proud Bunurong and Palawa artist Kobi Sainty, and proud Yorta Yorta and Gunnai artist Dixon Patten.

🌟 Tomorrow we’ll be celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day with activities, stories and song.

Thank you to SNAICC for the Aboriginal Children’s Day bags and resources, which we’ll be sharing with babies, toddlers and families, and to Yarn Strong Sister for the books we will read and the play time we will enjoy together.

National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day on Monday, August 4th, is a day to celebrate the strength, culture and voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

Many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are thriving in strong cultures supported by family and community. Yet too many still face challenges from the ongoing impacts of colonisation, including discrimination, poverty, trauma, and disconnection from culture.

Achieving equality requires a holistic approach to their wellbeing, safety, and development.

Every child deserves to grow up proud in culture, knowing their identity, and having the same health, wellbeing and life outcomes as non-Aboriginal children.

💛 This always was and always will be Aboriginal land.

❤️We’d like to thank Ruby and her family for the privilege of caring for her family, and for the feedback we received about their care.

“Our experience in the Residential program at Tweddle Footscray was invaluable! Our nine-month-old son responded really positively to the gentle responsive settling method coached to me and my partner from the staff. All staff were respectful, understanding and personable".

"We always felt supported and empowered throughout the five days we were there and will be forever grateful for all the assistance we received. Our son has gone from co-sleeping and feeding to sleeping with several wakes a night/catnaps in the pram and car during the day to now sleeping in his cot in his own room".

"We are all getting much better sleep and rest. Thank you. Your guidance has given us confidence in our overall parenting (particularly sleep and settling) and our son the ability to drift off to sleep in his cot, which is going to be so beneficial to his overall development".
