We love to label horses as “naughty” when they buck, rear or suddenly feel off under saddle.

But more often than not… it didn’t start there.

It started small.
Easy to miss. Easy to justify.
A bit of tightness. Subtle stiffness.
A change in how they move or carry themselves.
Little compensations that slowly build until the body can’t keep hiding it anymore.

By the time a horse is bucking or performing other unusual movements, they’ve usually already been communicating to you for a while.

Horse massage isn’t just about fixing problems when they show up - it’s about noticing what’s building underneath before it turns into behaviour, resistance, or frustration.

Because when a horse is uncomfortable, they don’t have many options. So they show you the only way they can - through movement and behaviour!

Massage can help:
* Release developing tension before it escalates
* Address how your horse may be feeling in their body
* Improve comfort and suppleness in work
* Support performance and recovery
* Pick up on early signs of restriction
* Keep your horse feeling and moving better for longer

So instead of asking “why are they acting out?”
Start asking “what are they compensating for?”

Your horse shouldn’t need to be bucking to get your attention. The earlier you listen, the better they move.

✨If you’re noticing changes in your horse’s way of going, get in touch to book a session to support them before small issues become big ones.

Your horse’s massage doesn’t start when I arrive.. it starts with how you prepare.

Here’s how to actually get the most out of your session with me:
DO✅
- Feed beforehand:
A settled horse = a better session. We just want them comfortable and not distracted or tense.

- Groom before:
I need to feel what’s going on underneath the coat — dirt and debris get in the way of accurate assessment.

- Pick a calm environment:
Less stimulation = more relaxation. This allows your horse to properly let go instead of staying on alert.

- Ask questions!!
The more you understand your horse’s body, the better you can support them between sessions. Nothing is off limits☺️

DONT❌
- Work them right before:
Fresh fatigue can mask underlying issues. Plus sweaty ponies & massage does not mix well🫠

- Ignore aftercare advice:
What you do after the session directly impacts results. This is where a lot of progress is either supported… or undone.

- Expect a quick fix:
Tension and compensation build over time, and they need consistent work to resolve properly.

- Dismiss reactions as “naughty”:
That feedback is useful. It tells me where discomfort is, and helps guide the treatment.

If you’re investing in your horse’s body, let’s make it count✨🫶🏼

You’ve seen it in the Olympics:
Horses at the top of their game getting sports massage to stay in peak condition. But here’s the truth.. your horse doesn’t need to be an Olympian to deserve this level of care!

Why Massage is for Every Horse 👇🏼
✨ Prevents injuries by assisting in keeping muscles balanced and loose.
✨ Speeds up recovery after hard work or competition.
✨ Reduces stress and tension, helping your horse stay calm and focused.
✨ Supports older horses with stiffness or arthritis.

Whether your horse is a:
🏇 Competition partner (eventing, show jumping, dressage etc.),
🌳 Trail companion
👶 Youngster in training or
🌿 Retired athlete
…massage can help them feel their best.

💬 Let’s Talk About It!
Have you tried massage for your horse? What was your experience? Share your stories below - I’d love to hear from you! ⬇️

🚨That Twitch Isn’t Random - Here’s What It Means🚨

Ever seen a muscle spasm or twitch during when touching your horses back? That sudden reaction isn’t just a quirk - it’s often a spot screaming for attention. These hyperirritable areas in the muscle can cause stiffness, soreness or even affect how your horse moves under saddle.

In this video, you’ll see exactly what I mean: a back muscle reacting to pressure, revealing tension that’s been building up. Knots like this often develop from:
🔹 Regular tension (think long rides, training drills, or even just carrying a rider daily)
🔹 Poor saddle fit or rider imbalances that create uneven pressure
🔹 Stress or lack of proper warm-up/cool-down

As a Qualified Remedial Massage Therapist for humans, I don’t just rely on equine techniques.. i blend my dual skills to target tension more effectively. Whether it’s myofascial release, stretching or trigger point work, I adapt to what your horse needs most.

The good news? Trigger point techniques can help release that tension, restoring comfort and mobility. Regular massage sessions act like a tune-up for your horse’s muscles - keeping them feeling their best and performing at their peak!

💪🏼“Grit” vs. Pain: When to Push and When to Listen!

We’ve all heard the saying: “Ride through it!”
But where’s the line between pushing through discomfort and ignoring a real problem?

🔹 Good Pain vs. Bad Pain:
✅Good Pain: Muscle fatigue after a hard ride (like soreness in your quads or shoulders).
⭕️Bad Pain: Sharp, persistent pain in your joints, lower back, or wrists.

🔹 Why Ignoring “Bad Pain” is Risky:
• It can lead to chronic injuries (like tendonitis or joint issues).
• Your horse feels your discomfort - they may compensate with their movement.
• It can create a cycle of tension that’s hard to break.

🔹 What to Do Instead:
• Listen to your body. If something hurts, don’t ignore it!
• Get a massage. Remedial therapy can release tension and prevent injuries. ( passport holders get $10 OFF their treatments! YES.. YOU!💆🏻‍♀️)
• Adjust your training. Sometimes, rest or cross-training is the best move.

Remember: Being a great rider isn’t about enduring pain - it’s about understanding your body and your horse’s limits.

Have you ever pushed through pain and regretted it? Share your story below! ⬇️

I’m so passionate about helping horses (riders too!!) move, feel and perform at their best. It means the world to be able to do this every day, i mean.. i could’ve been a graphic designer! 😂
Even though i’ve only officially been working for just over a year now.. this job is SOO much fun and rewarding 🐴✨

If you’ve seen a positive difference in your horse after a session, I’d be so grateful if you’d consider nominating me for the ETAA Annual Awards. It’s a wonderful way they recognise Equine Massage Therapists and the positive impact they leave with the horses, owners & industry.

💖 Did you know your horse feels what you feel? 💖

There’s a quiet magic in the bond between a rider and their horse: one built on trust, rhythm and unspoken understanding.
But did you know that physical relaxation deepens that connection in ways you might not realize?

When you are relaxed:
✨ Your seat becomes softer, your aids clearer and your energy calmer.
✨ Your horse mirrors that ease, moving with more confidence and willingness.

When your horse is relaxed:
🐎 Their muscles release tension, their breath steadies, and their focus sharpens.
🐎 You’ll feel their trust in every stride - like they’re truly listening.

That’s why I offer massage for both you and your horse. Because when you’re both physically comfortable, your partnership doesn’t just improve - it transforms.

🔹 For your horse: Regular sessions ease stiffness, improve mobility and keep them feeling their best.
🔹 For you: Targeted massage eases rider soreness, can correct posture due to muscle tension and helps you stay in sync with your horse’s movement.

It’s not just about recovery.. it’s about elevating your connection !

Have you noticed your bond with your horse change when you’re both more relaxed? Share your story below! ⬇️
