We love to label horses as “naughty” when they buck, rear or suddenly feel off under saddle.
But more often than not… it didn’t start there.
It started small.
Easy to miss. Easy to justify.
A bit of tightness. Subtle stiffness.
A change in how they move or carry themselves.
Little compensations that slowly build until the body can’t keep hiding it anymore.
By the time a horse is bucking or performing other unusual movements, they’ve usually already been communicating to you for a while.
Horse massage isn’t just about fixing problems when they show up - it’s about noticing what’s building underneath before it turns into behaviour, resistance, or frustration.
Because when a horse is uncomfortable, they don’t have many options. So they show you the only way they can - through movement and behaviour!
Massage can help:
* Release developing tension before it escalates
* Address how your horse may be feeling in their body
* Improve comfort and suppleness in work
* Support performance and recovery
* Pick up on early signs of restriction
* Keep your horse feeling and moving better for longer
So instead of asking “why are they acting out?”
Start asking “what are they compensating for?”
Your horse shouldn’t need to be bucking to get your attention. The earlier you listen, the better they move.
