In aquatic therapy, thanks to buoyancy allowing a lesser load of gravity, our children can move more easily and with greater coordination under water.

Over time, range of motion, muscle strengthening and stronger neural pathways occur so we see the developmental gains on land that we’re working towards.

In paediatric physiotherapy, every milestone, big or small, deserves to be celebrated.

When we acknowledge every step, jump, or stretch, we reinforce a child’s sense of achievement and self-belief.

Each new skill reflects countless moments of effort, progress, and persistence.

Recognising these wins helps build confidence, motivation, and joy in movement for children of all abilities.

Early screening matters. Babies communicate through movement and early screening helps us listen.

Motor assessments before 20 weeks allow physiotherapists to observe key movement patterns that indicate how a baby’s nervous and musculoskeletal systems are developing.

Early detection means early support, giving little ones the best possible start to reach their milestones with confidence.

The earlier we know, the better they grow.

In the spirit of Children’s Week, a time to celebrate the right of every child to enjoy childhood, to play, learn, and thrive in a safe and supportive environment, we wanted to share some of the gorgeous little heroes who we have had the pleasure of working with.

Watching them go from strength to strength, achieving their milestones has been an honour.

Hello friends, I’m hoping to be more active here and wanted to introduce myself to anyone who’s new to our page.

My name is Shab, Shabnam Moledina is my full name, and I’m the Founder and Principle Physiotherapist at Little Heroes Physio.

I qualified in the UK with 20 years experience working with children with complex physical needs and neurological conditions, acquiring majority of my experience in large UK National Health Service (NHS) teaching hospitals.

Experience from the UK involve the following settings:
~ Neonatal unit, seeing babies born from 24 weeks
~ Spasticity clinics – injecting Botox and pre and post therapy management
~ FES – functional electrical stimulation
~ Paediatric ITU and HDU
~ Neuromuscular clinics
~ Early intervention

My passion and skills are with working with babies and young children with neurological conditions such as cerebral palsy, genetic conditions, and developmental delay.

I truly love working with children and their parents and will do everything in my power to help each child reach their potential.  I have always been driven by flexibility and ‘outside the box’ treatment options that compliment physiotherapy.  I therefore incorporate the use of other options available such as aquatic physiotherapy, splints, equipment, Lycra, FES, and Pilates, in conjunction with my treatments. I’m also currently Chair of the NSW Aquatic Physiotherapy Committee.

I moved to Shellharbour in 2018 with my family to enjoy the coastal lifestyle, which has been amazing and since being here I have worked in private practice and with charities. After gaining local experience I decided to embark on setting up my own practice in order to offer my personalised approach, skills, experience and passion to the little heroes of the Illawarra.

When I’m not working with Little Heroes I am a mum to three very busy children and you may catch me at the beach with my family or at various little cafes enjoying what’s on offer along this beautiful coastline.

Tues 14 Oct

Every child has a hero inside them. 💛
Sometimes all it takes is a little support, a little hope, and someone who truly believes in them to help that hero shine.

At Little Heroes Physiotherapy, we walk alongside families to nurture potential, build confidence, and celebrate every milestone, big or small. Because we know that with the right care and encouragement, kids can achieve amazing things. 🌟

✨ Let’s keep believing in their magic.

As a paediatric physiotherapist, we often team up with other allied health preofrssionals such as occupational therapists.

This is essential to give children the best opportunity to reach milestones that emphasise their individuality and full potential.

While physios focus on movement, strength and motor skills, OTs can help children build independence in everyday activities.

Together, we set common goals and take an interdisciplinary approach to nurture the whole child, from play to posture, from coordination to confidence.

This means, the families working with us can benefit from a personal and professional approach, thanks to a team of experienced and friendly therapists.

Bubbles ~ a sweet way to support balance, strengthen posture and encourage reach.

Here we are working with this little hero to strengthen balance while sitting, as well as maintain a good posture as he reaches up with his arms at the same time.

Bubble play can also help improve coordination and makes therapy feel extra fun.
