We are back in full swing! 🖥️ The reality is, this is where Occupational Therapists often spend a lot of time (writing reports). A necessary step to help clients achieve their goals through careful wording and evidence to support their needs. Although I personally much prefer the face to face sessions where the real magic happens 💫 🙌🏽😌 Currently accepting referrals for veterans and private adult clients.

We love to see accessibility in the community. Oak Flats pool has stairs with handrails and a hoist. This provides opportunities for people with mobility difficulties to swim and enjoy the warm water 💧 ☀️ Just keep swimming 🏊🏼‍♂️

👷🏻‍♀️Platform step box ⬆️ 📦 I am delighted at how well this minor home modification worked! My elderly client was having difficulty ascending and descending the steps with their 4 wheeler walker. ✍️ I recommend and designed a platform step to extend the tread of the step for the wheels. (A ramp wasn’t possible). This will reduce falls and increase independent home access. The builder did an amazing job. ⭐️ Credit: JR Home Mods

Recognising today is International Day of People with Disability Day. We as Occupational Therapists work with clients and the community to assist with promoting inclusivity. It is a privilege to work in this role. I have learnt a lot from past and present clients about the challenges they face and ideas they have to make the world more accessible and more inclusive. ☀️ 🦯🩼🦼🛵🦽🚲

🦽 A client recently told me that your wheelchair is “an expression of who you are.”👩🏽👱🏼‍♂️👵🏼🧕🏼This has made me reflect on the importance of considering beyond the clinical measurements and pressure care. 📏 I now question how will any piece of assistive technology feel to the client. 🧑🏽‍🦽‍➡️🩼How will it enable them to do the things they want to do? Does it suit their style? 🪞Does it elevate their self efficacy? 🔑 Just some thoughts I wanted to share.

My elderly client and I had a lovely time trialling these amazing scooters from Country Care Group “Discoverer” and “Adventurer”. It’s impressive how much mobility scooters have changed over the past 9 years. They are safer, have longer lasting batteries, usb chargers and posturally supportive seats. 🛵

🛋️ We recently had a successful trial of rise and recline chairs at MacknMe in Albion Park NSW. Seating is so important for people with chronic health conditions and disability.
