Weeeell, plantain (Plantigo Major) to the rescue again! I made an oversized 'teabag,' with dried plantain and soft fabric, to treat a deep tissue sty that show up for no known reason on my lower eye lid. Guess what, it's working! :)

Evergreen Oil
There are so many uses for an antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-tumor oil.

Collect needles and twigs of any aromatic evergreen: cedar, juniper, hemlock, spruce, pine. You will also need a bone dry jar, some olive oil, and a label or two.

Fill the jar very full of evergreen needles and twigs. You may leave them whole or cut them. Make sure their uppermost tips are well below the top of the jar.

Fill the jar to the top with pure olive oil (or other oil of your choice). It is best if there is a “head” of oil floating over the evergreen. Cap well.

Label, including date, on front and top. Place jar in a bowl to catch overflow. Ready to use in six weeks.

(Note: Use Topically. Not internally)

So during this Chinese virus thing that we are slowly recovering from, I had a dental emergency. An older post and cap on a molar started to go bad. It was infected, there was no doubt. The dentist's office being closed I was on my own so I reached into my herbal kit. I decided to try an edible herb that draws out inflammation and infection. Plantego Major was my choice and, while the taste left something to be desired, it worked.

During our slowly lifting 'stay home' restriction I suffered a dental emergency. My dentist's office was closed so I was on my own. I turned to my herbs. After a bit of deliberation I decided on Plantigo Major -(https://www.gardensall.com/plantago-major/)
- an edible 'w**d' that draws inflammation, infection and splinters out. Being edible it was OK to hold in the mouth and the ensuing juice shed by a poultice into my mouth would not be a problem. I took two leaves of dried plantain that I had collected for emergencies and broke off the tiny stems figuring that they would poke my sore gums. P put the leaves in a cup and poured about an ounce of boiling water over it letting it soak for 2 or 3 min while I brushed my teeth. I then folded the leaves together into a small packed and tucked them between my cheek and gums ( dismayed thoughts of chewing to***co ran through my mind but I dismissed them) I left this plantain poultice in place for most of the night and it kept the tooth from 'screaming at me in foul language' while I awaited. I just had the tooth out and YAY, I did not even need an antibiotic! The dentist was pleased with my work, as was I :) .

Don't kill that w**d!Like dandelion, plantain is an edible and medicinal plant and one of the best w**ds for food and medicine. And, it is the w**d we're talking about here, not the sweetish starchy fruit often cooked and eaten as a staple vegetable food in tropical regions of the world. That plantai...
