Resource of the Month: Easy Grip Spring Loop Scissors ✂️

Designed for little hands, these scissors make cutting easier and more enjoyable while building fine motor skills 💪 The spring loop design gently re-opens after each squeeze, helping children develop confidence, control and hand strength.

We love using these scissors in sessions to support independence and reduce frustration when learning to cut 🙌

Try them at home with crafts, playdough or simple cutting activities for extra practice 🎨

This week our team has been busy behind the scenes learning and growing! 📚✨

Recently some of our therapists completed training through European Bedding, building their knowledge in sleep positioning and equipment to support safe, comfortable sleep.

We also had some therapists complete training in ‘Tuning into Kids: Emotionally Intelligent Parenting’, strengthening their skills in supporting parents to respond to big feelings with confidence and connection.

We love continuing to learn so we can bring evidence based interventions and practical support to the families we work with 💛

Does your child struggle with eating, avoid certain foods, or feel overwhelmed at the table?

Our paediatric feeding therapy supports children and families to build comfort and confidence around food in a calm, pressure-free way.

We support children with:
• sensory sensitivities
• mealtime anxiety or distress
• limited food variety or fussy eating
• developmental or neurodivergent-related feeding challenges

The first week of school is done 🎒
And if big emotions are showing up at home, you’re not alone.

Here’s some handy tips for regulation:
• Low demand afternoons where possible
• Outdoor play after school (bike riding, trampolines, playground time)
• Heavy work activities like carrying shopping bags, pushing the wheelie bin, animal walks
• Movement to reset the body - swinging, climbing, dancing, stretching
• Water play in the bath or shower to support calming
• Predictable routines and earlier nights

Big emotions after school are common and often reflect fatigue rather than behaviour.

Finger twister is a mini version of the classic twister game but instead of feet and hands, it’s all about your fingers!

This fun, fast paced game supports:
🖐️ Fine motor dexterity, specifically finger isolation
🧠 Motor planning and coordination
👀 Visual scanning and attention
🗣️ Following directions and turn taking

✏️ Is your child experiencing handwriting challenges and or potential motor dysgraphia? ✏️

Are they entering year 10-12? Our occupational therapists complete SCSA-aligned assessments to identify your child’s functional handwriting needs and support applications for special exam provisions such as ergonomic supports, modified paper,  extra time and rest breaks.

We work with families and schools to ensure students have the tools they need to demonstrate their true learning in exams.
