In a recent episode of The Aging Project, host Shelley Craft spoke with Professor Ralph Martins, AO, one of the world’s foremost Alzheimer’s researchers, to explore what’s really happening in our brains as we age.

For many women, memory changes during perimenopause can raise questions: Is this normal, or could it signal something more serious?

This vital conversation sheds light on the unique risk factors women face and highlights the latest advancements in testing and treatment, offering essential insight for anyone approaching menopause.

Alzheimer’s Research Australia welcomes the Therapeutic Goods Administration’s (TGA) approval of Kisunla (donanemab) for use in Australia, a significant step forward in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.

Donanemab, a disease-modifying therapy, offers new hope for individuals in the early stages of Alzheimer’s, with the potential to slow the progression of cognitive decline by targeting the underlying pathology of the disease.

Professor Vicky Vass, CEO of Alzheimer’s Research Australia, said the approval represents a major milestone for the research and clinical community in Australia.

Professor Ralph Martins, AO, Director of Research at Alzheimer’s Research Australia, described the announcement as transformative.

“This news is a game changer for Alzheimer’s treatment in Australia. Donanemab is the first disease-modifying drug approved in Australia that targets the biological cause of Alzheimer’s. It represents a scientific breakthrough, one that could meaningfully slow cognitive decline and improve quality of life.”
