πŸ” Myths vs. Facts | Plantar Fasciitis

In this series, common myths about musculoskeletal conditions are debunked, and evidence-based facts are shared to help you better understand and manage your pain.

Plantar fasciitis (or fasciopathy) is a term that relates to pain under the foot, more commonly near the heel and or the arch of the foot. This is a common condition that can affect any of us, including both athletes as well as non-athletic people of all ages. This can be very debilitating. The pain usually occurs gradually and is felt on the inside part of the foot, usually closer to the heel. The pain is usually worse in the morning and it often improves with movement and activity.

Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of heel pain. It is more common in females, and in those who perform repetitive activities such as walking and running. It also occurs in people who are sedentary, deconditioned and over-weight who may engage in an unusual bout of activity.

Do you experience plantar fasciitis?

At Body Logic, the physios provide personalised treatment for plantar fasciitis by identifying the factors contributing to your pain and explaining them in clear, simple terms. Treatment may include modifying how you move to reduce strain, prescribing a gradual strengthening and conditioning program for your lower limbs and feet, and coaching you to return to enjoyable physical and social activities. Taping may also be used to relieve pain and support movement. The goal is to help you take control of your body and health through effective, supportive care.

If you have any questions or would like to book an appointment, please call the clinic on (08) 9381 7940!

πŸ” Myths vs. Facts | Shoulder Pain

In this series, common myths about musculoskeletal conditions are debunked, and evidence-based facts are shared to help you better understand and manage your pain.

Shoulder pain is very common and it can affect up to 70% of people at some time in their lives. It can be very limiting and distressing affecting many aspects of daily living such as sleeping, self-care, household activities, work and recreation. Common diagnostic labels for shoulder pain are rotator cuff tear or rupture, rotator cuff tendinopathy, labral tear, subacromial bursitis, subacromial impingement, shoulder arthritis, frozen shoulder and acromio-clavicular joint pain.

Do you experience shoulder pain?

Physiotherapists at Body Logic can first help identify the main contributing factors associated with your shoulder pain. Based on this, the team will develop a plan that may involve a range of strategies to assist with things such as getting your shoulder moving, reducing pain and getting it stronger.

This may involve hands-on therapies for a short period and will always involve exercise.

If you have any questions or would like to book an appointment, please call the clinic on (08) 9381 7940!

πŸ” Myths vs. Facts | Fibromyalgia

In this series, common myths about musculoskeletal conditions are debunked, and evidence-based facts are shared to help you better understand and manage your pain.

Fibromyalgia is a term that relates to a set of symptoms which typically includes widespread body pain (usually neck, shoulders, back and pelvis but can also involve the limbs as well as headaches). It is also usually associated with a feeling of muscle tension, touch tenderness of the muscles, and feelings of fatigue and sleep disturbance. This may also be associated with symptoms such as dizziness, headaches, stomach pain, period pain and depressed mood. The symptoms of fibromyalgia can be very distressing and debilitating.

Fibromyalgia is fairly common in middle-aged people. Pain exacerbations usually occur during times of stress, ill-health, inactivity, over activity and poor sleep.

Do you experience fibromyalgia?

The physiotherapists at Body Logic provide personalised, evidence-based care for people with fibromyalgia, focusing on long-term management rather than short-term fixes. Treatment includes education about the condition, coaching in body relaxation, breathing techniques, and gentle movement to calm the nervous system. The team supports sleep rehabilitation, guide gradual physical activity to avoid the boom-bust cycle, and create tailored plans over 6–10 sessions across three months.

If you have any questions or would like to book an appointment, please call the clinic on (08) 9381 7940!

πŸ” Myths vs. Facts | Sciatica/Nerve Pain

In this series, common myths about musculoskeletal conditions are debunked, and evidence-based facts are shared to help you better understand and manage your pain.

Sciatica is a common term that relates to leg pain associated with inflammation and hyper-sensitivity of the nerves that originate from the lower back, and track down the buttock and lower leg. These nerves are usually very robust and can handle pressure and stretching, but once they are sensitised they can be very painful, debilitating and distressing.

Common labels for sciatica include: radicular pain, radiculopathy and the sensitivity may be related to a disc protrusion or prolapse or narrowing of the canal (stenosis) that the nerve exits in the low back. The natural history of this pain condition is very good, with many reporting symptoms have largely resolved within 12 weeks of sciatica treatment. However, persistent sciatica/nerve pain occurs when pain persists beyond 3 months.

Do you experience nerve pain?

The physiotherapists at Body Logic can examine you and determine if you need medical attention or not. They can guide you through a gradual rehabilitation process and provide you with specific strategies to get you back to on track. A prevention program once the pain has settled is key to our sciatica treatment, as recurrence is common. Surgery is usually only indicated where there is a progressive loss of power and sensation of the lower limb and an inability to pass urine. If you have had surgery for sciatica, the team will guide you through a rehabilitation process to get you relaxed, moving and active again.

πŸ” Myths vs. Facts | Arthritis

In this series, common myths about musculoskeletal conditions are debunked, and evidence-based facts are shared to help you better understand and manage your pain.

Arthritis is a term that relates to changes in the structure of a joint that may be associated with pain. Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis and the leading cause of pain, disability and early exit from the workforce for Australians. Common joints affected are the hip, knee, spine, shoulder and ankle.

Osteoarthritis is the most common joint disorder worldwide, affecting approximately 10% of the population. In Australia, osteoarthritis affects 2.2 million people (9% of the population), and is projected to affect 3.1 million by 2030.

Do you experience arthritis?

At Body Logic, the clinicians are not interested in ongoing band-aid treatments. Arthritis treatments such as manipulation, massage, needling, medication, injections often only provide short-term pain relief. The team are interested in treating arthritis through coaching patients to develop confidence to exercise and engage in regular physical activity. This can be done either in a group environment or in an individualised manner.

If you have any questions or would like to book an appointment, please call the clinic on (08) 9381 7940!
