You know your baby better than anyone. If something feels off and you cannot quite put your finger on it, that instinct is worth trusting.

Most of the time, parents are the first to notice when something feels different. If any of the signs in this post are on your mind, it is worth a conversation.

A good health professional, whether that is your GP, paediatrician, CHN or a paediatric therapist, will listen, ask questions, and either reassure you or point you in the right direction.
Either way, you leave with more information than you had before.

Early support is NOT about labelling your child or rushing to conclusions. Getting the right advice early gives your child the best possible start 🤍

Most children go through food phases and most of the time, things will shift on their own.

But sometimes it feels like more than a phase.
The food list gets shorter instead of longer, maybe dinner becomes something the whole family quietly dreads. And there is that feeling you keep pushing aside, the one that says something is off.

If this sounds like your household, you are not alone, and you are not overreacting, you are paying attention.

May is Paediatric Feeding Disorder (PFD) and Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) Awareness Month.

To support parents and caregivers who have been sitting with these questions, our senior dietitian Brooke Penny is offering FREE 15-minute phone call check-ins throughout May.

No referral, no commitment, no pressure. Just a conversation to help you work out whether what you are seeing is something worth exploring further.

Waiting for a paediatric appointment before getting other supports for your child? You don’t have to!

A lot of families are told to wait for a diagnosis before accessing allied health services. But early support doesn’t work that way, and the earlier your little one gets the right input, the better.

Swipe to see what early intervention actually looks like. Know a parent sitting on a waitlist right now? Send this their way.

“Their writing is so messy.” “It takes them so long.” “They just give up.”

Handwriting draws on so many skills at once, and for many children, some of those are still developing during the primary school years.📝

‼️ We have put together a FREE guide for families with children aged 6 to 9, with milestones, play-based activity ideas, and guidance on when it might be worth checking in with an OT.

Lunchboxes might feel repetitive when your child prefers the same foods most days… 🥯🧀🍌🥚🍪🍚🥪

This post from our feeding therapist & dietitian shows what a week of realistic lunchboxes can look like when you are working with the foods that your child already accepts! 🌟

Even when options are limited or looking quite “beige”, it is still possible to support your child’s nutrition across the day.

At school, children are often busy and distracted, which means familiar foods are more likely to be eaten. That is what matters most in that environment.

If variety is limited in your child’s lunchbox, there are other opportunities at home to offer different foods in a more relaxed setting.

If lunchboxes or mealtimes are feeling difficult, our feeding team is here to support you with tailored strategies that feel practical and achievable to your family. 💛

It can sometimes be difficult to determine what a ‘normal’ level of stress or anxiety is for your child, and when to seek further support. 🤍

Psychological treatment for excessive stress or anxiety is highly effective, and can help your child develop useful strategies to manage and cope.

Our Mental Health Clinic has recently welcomed new psychologists and mental health occupational therapists to the team.

As a result, we currently have open waitlists with availability for new referrals for anxiety presentations for young people aged 8 to 24 years. If you’ve been waiting for the right time to reach out, this is it!

Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) is one of the most common chronic childhood diseases in Australia, yet many families have never heard of it until a diagnosis is made.

In this post, we share some key facts about JIA and the lived experience of children and families navigating this condition.

If you ever have concerns about your child’s joints, pain, or movement, speaking with your child’s GP or physiotherapist can be an important first step.
