The Boola Kep, Boola Koort Water Roundtable brought together Aboriginal community members from across WA, along with researchers, service providers and government reps — all working together to improve water quality and environmental health in remote communities.

Supported by the WAHTN-CCIProgram and FHRI Consumer and Community Involvement Support Fund, the two-day event was a chance to reflect, reconnect and set priorities for action.

Thank you to everyone who shared their stories and insights — your voices are leading the way.

This project is investigating whether we can develop a new type of scan that accurately image the conduction system of the heart. This scan may be used to help diagnose heart problems and predict who might need a cardiac pacemaker years in advance or may help to identify the cause for fainting in other people.

We are looking for people with lived experience of heart conduction disorders. This includes people who have “heart block” and have had a pacemaker inserted.

This project is only in its early phases and the scan is only just being developed but the researchers would like consumer input into right from the beginning.

To ensure the study captures all perspectives, the researchers need consumers to be involved in all aspects of the project – from the study design phase to the final presentation of a research paper.

What Skills or Experience Do I Need?

- Parents or carers who have cared for a child in intensive care who needed help to breathe using a breathing tube and machine (intubation and ventilation).
- Young adults (aged 16 and over) who have personal experience of being in intensive care and needing breathing support within the past 5 years.

Many children living with autism struggle to get the dental care they need, leading to serious oral health problems like tooth decay and gum disease. Their condition can make dental visits and home oral hygiene especially challenging, and families often face extra obstacles in finding and accessing suitable dental care.

Researchers are looking for a research buddy to review a research survey and share feedback on clarity and relevance of the survey questions, based on their lived experience as parents/caregivers of children (age 5-16 years) living with Autism spectrum disorder.

This study aims to learn more from parents and caregivers about the difficulties they face and explore possible solutions to improve access to dental care for children living with autism.
