FINE wants to send our condolences and best wishes to Kane and his family. Furthermore, we would like to thank Kane for his vulnerability and allowing us to share his story!
“Being men’s mental health month, I feel I should share my story, how it will help me and hopefully others. I know someone else has recently experienced this.
My father committed su***de and h*ng himself... I saw what he used when me and my family cleaned his room. For most of my life I have been in therapy officially diagnosed ADHD and on the spectrum. I learned from my parents’ mistakes with drugs and alcohol as well as with my own. I learned through blood sweat and tears that routine and healthy habits ARE the most important thing for mental health.
Some days I win, some days I lose and that’s my battle and will continue to be till the day I pass. There is no shame to ask for help or to seek professional help, therapy is like gym for your mind and emotions.
Talk to a mate, call lifeline, go to reddit, go to your neighbour...there are so many tools. I hope it being men’s mental health month that putting my sh*t online and without shame allows anyone I know or sees this to know they aren’t alone, and it is ok, we got this.”
If you or anyone you know is going through mental health issues or hard times, reach out to Lifeline on 13 11 14.
