Prior to travelling overseas, think about measles vaccination. If you are born during or since 1966 you need 2 doses of measles vaccine or a documented past measles illness to be considered immune to measles. If you are born prior to 1966 you normally don't need vaccination. Measles vaccination is available and often is government funded, meaning it's a free vaccine.

Today the World Health Organization (WHO) says no region in the world has successfully eliminated measles, and cases have surged in the past year, with 10.3 million people infected in 2023.

We have had a lot of phone calls asking whether the clinic does BCG vaccination. Unfortunately the Shepparton Travel Clinic is not providing BCG vaccination currently. The Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne provides BCG.

The BCG vaccine helps protect children from tuberculosis, with more information on this infectious disease available at the RCH Kids Health information website: http://www.rch.org.au/kidsinfo/fact_sheets/TB_tuberculosis/
