🎀 It’s That Time Again! 🎀

Wellness Medical Clinic is proud to once again support the National Breast Cancer Foundation for our annual Breast Cancer Fundraiser — and this year we are excited to officially be part of the Pink Hero Team! 💕

Breast cancer continues to impact thousands of Australians every year, with many families and loved ones affected by diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing recovery. Through fundraising, awareness, and community support, we hope to help make a difference and contribute towards vital breast cancer research and support services.

Throughout our fundraiser, we will be encouraging our wonderful community to get involved, spread awareness, wear pink, donate if able, and help support a cause that means so much to so many. Every contribution, big or small, helps move closer towards a future with zero deaths from breast cancer. 🌸

We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support from our patients, staff, families, and community each year. Together, we can continue to raise awareness, support those affected, and make a meaningful impact. 💗

If you would like to support our fundraiser, donations can be made here:

⚠️ Measles Alert in Victoria ⚠️

Measles cases are continuing to rise across Victoria, with increased community exposure being reported across Melbourne and surrounding areas. Measles is a highly contagious viral illness that spreads easily through coughing, sneezing, and close contact.

🤒 Symptoms of measles may include:
• Fever
• Cough
• Runny nose
• Red or sore eyes
• Feeling generally unwell
• A red rash that usually starts on the face and spreads down the body

🛡️ How to stay protected:
✔️ Ensure your vaccinations are up to date
✔️ Two doses of the MMR (Measles-Mumps-Rubella) vaccine are recommended for full protection
✔️ Practise good hand hygiene
✔️ Avoid contact with others if feeling unwell
✔️ Call ahead before attending the clinic if you have symptoms or possible exposure

💉 Who may be eligible for a FREE measles vaccine?
In Australia, people born during or after 1966 who have not received 2 documented doses of the MMR vaccine may be eligible for a free catch-up vaccination.

⚠️ Many older children and adults may not be fully protected against measles, particularly if they only received one dose or are unsure of their vaccination history. Measles can cause serious complications, especially in young children, pregnant women, and immunocompromised individuals.

Vaccination remains the best protection for yourself, your family, and the wider community 💙

If you are unsure whether your vaccinations are up to date, please contact Wellness Medical Clinic to discuss your immunisation history. 🩺

💜 Happy International Nurses Day 💜

Today, on International Nurses Day, we celebrate and recognise the dedication, compassion, and strength of nurses across the world. This day is an opportunity to acknowledge the incredible impact nurses have on the lives of patients, families, and communities every single day. From providing comfort and support, to advocating for patients and delivering high-quality care, nurses play an essential role within healthcare.

As a nurse, I feel incredibly proud to be part of such a compassionate and hardworking profession. I am constantly inspired by the resilience, kindness, and commitment shown by nurses in all areas of healthcare, often during some of the most challenging moments in people’s lives.

International Nurses Day is not only a celebration of our profession, but also a reminder of the care, empathy, and dedication nurses bring to their work every day. Whether working in hospitals, general practice, aged care, community health, emergency care, or specialist services, nurses continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Thank you to every nurse around the world for your ongoing dedication, support, and compassion. Your work is deeply valued and appreciated today and every day. 💜

🩺 Cervical Screening Test – a simple test that can save your life.

Cervical cancer is often called a “silent killer” because in its early stages it usually causes no symptoms at all. Many people feel completely well — until the disease is advanced.

The good news?
👉 Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers when screening is done regularly.

Who should have a Cervical Screening Test?

✔️ Anyone with a cervix
✔️ Aged 25–74 years
✔️ Even if you:
• Feel well
• Have no symptoms
• Are no longer sexually active
• Have had the HPV vaccine

Why is screening so important?

The Cervical Screening Test looks for HPV (human papillomavirus) — the virus that causes almost all cervical cancers.
Finding HPV early allows changes to be monitored or treated before cancer develops.

How often do I need it?

📅 Every 5 years if your result is normal
⏱️ The test only takes a few minutes

Did you know?

✨ You can choose self-collection for your cervical screening in many cases — a safe, accurate option that can be done in the clinic.

Early detection saves lives.
If you’re due or unsure, book in and talk to your GP or nurse — your future self will thank you 💙

📞 Book now via HotDoc or contact the clinic for more information.

🫁 Lung Cancer Screening Has Arrived – And It Could Save Your Life

Lung cancer often has no symptoms in the early stages — which is why screening is so important.

The good news?
Eligible patients can now access FREE lung cancer screening every 2 years through the National Lung Cancer Screening Program.

👤 Who is it for?

You may be eligible if you:
• Are aged 50–70 years
• Are a current smoker OR quit within the last 10 years
• Have smoked the equivalent of 30 pack-years or more
• Have no symptoms

Not sure what “pack-years” means? Don’t worry — we calculate that for you.

💙 Let’s Talk About Stigma

Smoking is common, and many people have smoked at some stage in their life. This program is not about blame or judgement — it’s about early detection and better outcomes.

If you’ve smoked in the past or currently smoke, you deserve access to preventative healthcare without stigma.

🏥 What Does Screening Involve?

Screening is done via a Low-Dose CT (LDCT) scan.

✔️ It’s quick (usually under 10 minutes)
✔️ Non-invasive
✔️ You don’t need injections or sedation
✔️ No hospital stay
✔️ It’s FREE for eligible patients

The scan uses a very low dose of radiation to look for early signs of lung cancer — often before symptoms appear.

🔁 How Does the Process Work?

1️⃣ Book an appointment with one of our doctors
2️⃣ We assess eligibility and calculate pack-years
3️⃣ If eligible, we provide a referral
4️⃣ You attend your scan
5️⃣ Results are reviewed and discussed with you
6️⃣ If eligible, screening is repeated every 2 years

🫁 Early detection saves lives.

If you think you might be eligible, or you’d simply like to discuss whether this screening is right for you, please contact Wellness Medical Clinic to arrange an appointment.

📞 Call us or book online via HotDoc.
We are always accepting new patients.

Heads up to all our patients 🚨

We’ve been made aware of spam emails and texts circulating that appear to come from HotDoc.

These messages can look very convincing and may include links asking you to confirm details, make bookings, or even claim a reimbursement—however, these are NOT from us or HotDoc.

⚠️ The scam mechanism:

Messages may be titled “Update needed to process consultation refund” or “Confirm refund details”
They often include fake links designed to steal your login or financial information
Emails mentioning refunds or reimbursements are a phishing scam

🔍 How to verify:

Genuine HotDoc messages will come from domains such as hotdoc.com.au, hotdoc.io, or hotdoc.com
They will usually include your name and your specific doctor or clinic name

✅ What to do:

Do not click any suspicious links
Do not enter personal, banking, or medical information
Delete the message immediately
Contact our clinic directly using a trusted phone number if you’re unsure

For safety, only book appointments via the official HotDoc app or call us directly.

If you receive one of these messages and aren’t sure, please reach out—we’re happy to help verify it for you.
