We’ve received a large number of calls asking when our 2026 flu vaccines will be available — thank you for your patience!

We are expecting stock to arrive between March and April. As soon as they are delivered to the clinic, we will notify everyone.

📣 Shingles Cases Increasing Across Victoria – Protect Yourself

We are currently seeing an increase in confirmed shingles cases across Victoria.

🦠 What is shingles and how does it occur?

Shingles (herpes zoster) occurs when the chickenpox virus (varicella-zoster virus) reactivates in the body.

After you have had chickenpox — even decades ago — the virus stays dormant in your nerve cells. As we age or if our immune system weakens, the virus can reactivate, travelling along the nerves to the skin and causing:

• A painful, burning or tingling sensation
• A blistering rash (usually on one side of the body)
• Ongoing nerve pain in some cases (post-herpetic neuralgia), which can last for months

Risk increases with age, stress, illness, and weakened immunity.

💉 Vaccination is the best protection.
The shingles vaccine used in Australia, Shingrix, significantly reduces your risk of developing shingles and serious complications.

🆓 Who is eligible for a FREE vaccine under the National Immunisation Program (NIP)?

A funded 2-dose course is available for:

✔️ Adults aged 65 years and over
✔️ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50 years and over
✔️ Adults aged 18 years and over who are immunocompromised

Two doses are required, usually given 2–6 months apart for best protection.

❗ Not eligible for the free vaccine?
You can still receive Shingrix via a private prescription from your GP.

There is an ongoing risk of measles linked to overseas and interstate travel, including transmission occurring from exposures on inbound international flights and airport settings.

Anyone who has attended a listed public exposure site during the specified dates and times should monitor for symptoms for up to 18 days after the exposure and seek medical care if symptoms develop.

Anyone who develops symptoms should seek medical care and testing for measles. Call the health service beforehand to advise that you may have been exposed to measles and wear a face mask.

Vaccination is the best way to protect yourself and others.

🫁 Lung Cancer Screening Has Arrived – And It Could Save Your Life

Lung cancer often has no symptoms in the early stages — which is why screening is so important.

The good news?
Eligible patients can now access FREE lung cancer screening every 2 years through the National Lung Cancer Screening Program.

👤 Who is it for?

You may be eligible if you:
• Are aged 50–70 years
• Are a current smoker OR quit within the last 10 years
• Have smoked the equivalent of 30 pack-years or more
• Have no symptoms

Not sure what “pack-years” means? Don’t worry — we calculate that for you.

💙 Let’s Talk About Stigma

Smoking is common, and many people have smoked at some stage in their life. This program is not about blame or judgement — it’s about early detection and better outcomes.

If you’ve smoked in the past or currently smoke, you deserve access to preventative healthcare without stigma.

🏥 What Does Screening Involve?

Screening is done via a Low-Dose CT (LDCT) scan.

✔️ It’s quick (usually under 10 minutes)
✔️ Non-invasive
✔️ You don’t need injections or sedation
✔️ No hospital stay
✔️ It’s FREE for eligible patients

The scan uses a very low dose of radiation to look for early signs of lung cancer — often before symptoms appear.

3️⃣ If eligible, we provide a referral
4️⃣ You attend your scan
5️⃣ Results are reviewed and discussed with you
