Play is our language in the Playroom and children can use that language with toys in anyway they need to express their feelings.

Conflict happens. It is not always bad, it can help us see where things need to change and build the ability to express our needs, but this takes practice.
When we are guiding our kids in how to manage conflict, we don’t want to jump in too soon. Hang back and see if they can work things out. If it is escalating or getting physical, then you can step in and model positive behaviour.

If you find that you and your child are butting heads regularly over the same issue, it’s best to work through it together.
This will help your relationship so it’s not such a battle during times of conflict or when one person (child or adult) feels their needs are not being met.
Try and sit down with your child when you both are calm and have them try and come up with ideas of what else could happen. Offer suggestions but be willing to listen if they have a problem or if they have a solution to a situation that ends in compromise.
Remember, children are inquisitive and always learning about how to be in the world, so a collaborative and open environment is a win for all!
