GV Health’s Emergency Department is currently experiencing high demand, resulting in lengthy wait times for patients with non-urgent matters.

We ask that community members only come to the Emergency Department for conditions that are urgent or life-threatening.

The Priority Primary Care Centre (PPCC) in Shepparton provides urgent care for non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses. The PPCC is located at 49 Graham Street. For more information, including operating hours visit http://shepmed.mthc.com.au/ppcc/

The Victorian Virtual Emergency Department (VVED) is another alternative service that lets you access care for non-life-threatening emergencies. You can connect to the VVED from anywhere in Victoria. Visit https://www.vved.org.au/patients/

For information on other services available, please see our Alternative Health Services guide athttps://www.gvhealth.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Alternative-Services-Liftout-T44-2025.pdf

📣 For the Easter long weekend we encourage all Australians to prioritise safety – wherever your plans may take you.

From road trips and outdoor adventures to family gatherings, it’s a busy time across the country. Taking a few simple precautions – like carrying a first aid kit, being first aid ready (with skills and knowledge), staying hydrated, and being sun smart – can make all the difference.

St John is proud to support our communities across Australia, but it’s the simple actions we each take that truly make a difference.

Let’s make it a safe and memorable weekend for all – because when we’re prepared, we protect what matters most.

Help Save Lives? HELP your fellow neighbour by having been trained in CPR? or have a Defibrillator outside your house for a GoodSam Responder to use.

👂🏻 We keep hearing from those who want to make their defibrillator available to their community to help improve survival from cardiac arrest, so we've introduced the New Outdoor Defib Bundle.

The outdoor pin-coded AED (Automated External Defibrillator) cabinet allows bystanders to access the defibrillator inside in an emergency. This cabinet features both a key and pin-code lock to ensure access and security, simultaneously. When you register your defibrillator and the cabinet code on the Victorian Defibrillator Registry, the code becomes visible to 000 operators and can be given out to callers in an emergency.

Purchase the G5 defibrillator outdoor bundle and receive:
⚡G5 Fully Auto Defibrillator with Intellisense CPR Feedback Pads
⚡Outdoor Key Pad Defibrillator Cabinet
⚡First Aid Signage for AED 90 Degree - metal
⚡DRSABCD Action Plan A3 Poster
⚡AED Ready Kit
⚡Defibrillator eLearning licenses x10

GOOD ADVICE : On Apps to Keep Up to date and preparing for Emergencies.

Mobile phones are useful tools when preparing for emergencies, with apps designed to help you plan for, and respond to emergencies. 📱

The apps below can help you monitor your local area:
🌥️ The Bureau of Meteorology app will use your location details to alert you to severe weather events happening near you.

📻 The ABC Australia listen app allows you to listen to local programs and emergency broadcasts from any ABC Radio station around Australia.

⚠️ The Emergency+ app helps you ring triple-0 and provides you with your GPS coordinates so you can tell an operator where you are.

Find more information, including state specific apps to download at: https://www.abc.net.au/emergency/how-your-phone-can-keep-you-safe-in-an-emergency/12830330

If the power is out during an emergency, it can be useful to have a mobile phone charger on hand that doesn't rely on mains electricity, like a portable battery charger, power bank, or a car charger. 🔋

A mobile phone can be an invaluable way to help keep yourself safe during a disaster, but you should make sure you have other ways of receiving information in an emergency.
