Just in case you missed it ...

The new NDIS Worker Screening Check starts today.

From today everyone who is employed by a registered provider and who works, or wants to work, closely with NDIS participants will have to go through this background check.

The check is designed to try and minimise some of the risks to people with disability.

Everyone's results will be kept on the new NDIS Worker Screening Database.

All providers who are NDIS registered must make sure their workers have been given the all clear before they are allowed to work with participants.

Workers who work for self managed participants or unregistered providers are not required to complete the check. But everyone can request workers complete it before doing any work.

Self managed participants and unregistered providers will also be able to look to look at the database. But first they will need to apply to be able to see it.

The process is still a bit different between each state and territory. Youโ€™ll have to check with your stateโ€™s new "Worker Screening Unit" (see the links below) to find out what workers need to do.

And while the new process starts today, obviously it will take a while to get through all existing workers.

This is all new and can be a bit confusing. We are working on a short article for our website trying to summarise all the changes.

But in the meantime, there is more info on the NDIS Quality and Safeguards website.

๐Ÿ‘‰ General information about the new process can be found here - https://www.ndiscommission.gov.au/about/ndis-worker-screening-check

๐Ÿ‘‰ More information for self managed participants can be found here - https://www.ndiscommission.gov.au/participants/worker-screening-self-managed-participants

Last chance!

This is your last chance to tell the National Disability Insurance Agency what you think about the planned changes to assessments, access and planning.

Submissions to the NDIA close at 10am tomorrow.

You can have your say in two ways:

โœ๏ธ You can make your submission directly to the NDIA. You can find out how to do that here - https://www.ndis.gov.au/community/have-your-say

โœ๏ธ Or you can let us know what you think of all the changes. We are bundling up all your comments and stories and sending them through to the NDIA first thing tomorrow morning. You can add your voice here - https://everyaustraliancounts.com.au/have-your-say-on-ndis-assessments/

We will keep collecting all your comments and concerns so we can also share them with the Joint Standing Committee on the NDIS. They are holding an inquiry into the new compulsory assessments.

๐Ÿ“† Submissions to that inquiry close on March 31.

These are the biggest changes to the NDIS since it started.

So there is no time to waste. Take action now and add your voice to the hundreds of others who have already spoken out.
