Staying safe together at Arbor Sherwood! 💚

Yesterday, residents came together for an informative and engaging safety session with Senior Constable Lisa Easton from the Oxley Neighbourhood Police Beat. Covering tips on how to be alert about scan messages or phone calls, to how to stay safe when using ATMs.

With a great turnout, the session sparked great conversation and provided residents with valuable, easy-to-follow advice to help them stay safe and confident in their day-to-day lives.

Last week, residents enjoyed a lovely morning tea with Cr Nicole Johnston, who took time to visit and share valuable information about services available to seniors in the our local community.

Cr Johnston shared helpful resources including, Council Cabs for Seniors, free off-peak travel on BCC buses with a Senior Go Card and upcoming theatre and music events - all great opportunities for residents to stay connected and active.

We were also pleased to welcome Sherwood Neighbourhood Centre Inc. , who shared details about activities and upcoming events, as well as information about their thrift shop and opportunities for residents to volunteer.

Thank you Cr Johnston and the Sherwood Neighbourhood Centre for joining us at the village. Our residents truly enjoyed the visit and the opportunity to learn more about what's happening in the community! 💚

🎶 Arbor Village Singers at St Vincent’s Aged Care, Corinda 🎶

Formed in 2022 under the direction of Arbor resident Valerie, the Arbor Village Singers have grown from a small group to a vibrant choir of 21 members. Alongside their regular in-house concerts, the choir shares their voices with the wider community, including performances at aged care homes like St Vincent’s in Corinda, Bardon, and Regis Chelmer.

🎄 Christmas Cheer at Arbor Sherwood! 🎶

Last week, our village came alive with festive spirit during our Christmas celebration! The highlight of the day was a special performance by our very own choir, The Arbor Village Singers. Their delightful mix of Christmas classics and popular favourites, accompanied by piano and percussion, was truly wonderful.

Residents enjoyed a delicious catered lunch from The Big Antipasto, and our busy elves outdid themselves with a fun-filled Secret Santa and fabulous raffle prizes. The laughter, toasts, and festive cheer made for a long and joyful afternoon. 💚

Earlier this month, residents at the village came together to enjoy a wonderful Melbourne Cup celebration filled with laughter, community and touch of friendly competition. The social event team did an amazing job, arranging a delicious lunch, organising sweeps, and decorating the lounge to create a festive atmosphere! 🎉🏇 Thank you to everyone who joined us for the afternoon.

🏌️‍♂️ Inter-Floor Golf Challenge at the Village! 🏌️‍♀️

Over the past few weeks, our residents have been enjoying their first-ever inter-floor golf challenge. The atmosphere was electric, with players and supporters having a fantastic time.

The competition was fierce and we even witnessed a few holes in one! The final showdown saw Level 2 face off against Level 3. In the end, Level 2 emerged victorious!

A special shoutout to our amazing ladies, who displayed exceptional skill and sportsmanship. One resident, in particular, surprised everyone with her incredible talent and energy – proving that age is just a number! 🏆

🤩What a wonderful way to have a bit of indoor fun during the colder months.

🌟✨ Celebrating Style at the Village! ✨🌟 Residents Val, Christine, and Margaret lit up the runway at our annual fashion parade, showcasing elegant styles from Fashions on Mayfield, Moorooka. Owner Wendy's expert commentary added flair to the event, while residents enjoyed the full-service experience, feeling fabrics and trying on their favourite pieces after the parade. 🎉👗

Our residents hosted their annual Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser yesterday, raising over $450 for Cancer Council Australia! 💛🧁 A huge THANK YOU to the bakers, cooks, sandwich makers and residents who participated in this wonderful event and contributed to raising much needed funds for the Cancer Council.
