🇮🇳 Indian Independence Day Celebrations at Harbourside Residential Care

Last Friday, our residents and staff came together to celebrate Indian Independence Day with colour, culture and joy!

Our special resident, Betty Benson, shared her wonderful memories of living on a tea plantation in India and posed for a lovely photo with Paula, Tamara, Kavita and Dinah.

The afternoon featured a beautiful sari demonstration by Kavita, with Tamara as the model, and everyone enjoyed tasty samosas and curry puffs with their happy hour drinks.

Together, residents and staff were treated to wonderful performances by Julia, Kavita, Josmy, Salu, Merin Sona and Amalu — filling the room with music, colour and celebration

What a fantastic way to mark such a special day, side by side as a community.

Birthday Celebrations at Harbourside Seniors Hub!

Today we celebrated three wonderful ladies — Yvonne, Shirley, and Doreen.

The day was filled with craft, games, plenty of great conversation, and of course… cake!

Welcome Kiara!

We’re so excited to have Kiara joining us at Harbourside Residential Care each Wednesday until the end of Term 3 for her work experience.

Our HR Business Partner, Paula, first met Kiara at the Supporting the Future Workforce! Year 10 Industry Showcase at Tomaree High School — an inspiring event helping students explore career pathways ahead of subject selection.

It’s wonderful to see that first meeting turn into an opportunity for Kiara to gain hands-on experience and see what a rewarding career in aged care can look like.

A big thank you to Kavita for mentoring and guiding Kiara during her time with us.

A Day of Joy at Harbourside!
Today, our Harbourside Residential Care community was delighted to welcome the Year 3 students from Shoal Bay Public School for a special intergenerational program held at Richardson.

Residents from all three houses—Carter, Richardson, and Les Johnson—came together to join in the fun. The program was filled with laughter, music, and plenty of smiles as we enjoyed:
🎾 Ball games
🧠 Quizzes
💃 Dancing & singing – from the Chicken Dance and Hokey Pokey to the Macarena!
😂 A few cheeky jokes
🎶 A beautiful performance of My Island Home by Christine Anu, complete with Auslan signing and two talented students on the didgeridoo.

It was a heartwarming day of connection, music, and shared joy across generations. Thank you to Shoal Bay Public School for bringing so much energy, kindness, and fun to our residents – we can’t wait to see you again!

Made with love and gratitude


In the weeks leading up to Aged Care Employee Day, our wonderful residents were hard at work creating handmade beaded necklaces as gifts for our staff—each one crafted with care, appreciation, and love.

These beautiful pieces were given to team members as a token of thanks, recognising all the dedication, kindness, and support shown by our staff every day.

What a truly special effort, inspired by mutual care, respect, and appreciation. It was heartwarming to see our residents so proud to give something back to the people who support them so wholeheartedly.

Aged Care Employee Day & Years of Service Celebrations at Harbourside


We had such a wonderful day celebrating Aged Care Employee Day and honouring our amazing Harbourside staff for their care, commitment, and years of service.

Our CEO Paul Fitzpatrick, Board Chairman Raad Richards, and fellow board members Max Pride and Graham Blythman joined us to help mark the occasion, sharing heartfelt words of thanks and support.

Paul reminded us: “It doesn’t matter what job you do in aged care—it all contributes to the quality of care.”
Raad shared his deep respect for our workforce, recognising the trust placed in us by families and how proud we should all be of the work we do every day.

We also took time to celebrate team members who’ve reached incredible milestones—5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 years with Harbourside. What a commitment—thank you!

The day featured:
- A fabulous Tango performance (Filipino style!) by Elizabeth and August
- Handmade gifts from our residents—beaded necklaces and origami treasures
- A fun-filled lucky draw with cheers and applause all around!

A truly touching moment was when Kerry, one of our residents, personally handed out the gifts on behalf of herself and her fellow residents. It was so special to see how much she enjoyed giving back to the staff who care for them every day.

We also revealed our Wall of Appreciation, featuring messages from residents about the difference our team makes in their lives.

To our entire Harbourside team—nurses, carers, kitchen staff, maintenance, cleaning, admin and more—thank you. You make this community what it is. We’re proud to celebrate you today and every day.

Celebrating Aged Care Employee Day at Harbourside Home Care

We’re kicking off Aged Care Employee Day celebrations at Harbourside Home Care over the next few days, taking the opportunity to thank our amazing team members in person as they drop in.

Each team member will be gifted some chocolates and a handmade bracelet — a small gesture of appreciation for the incredible care and compassion they show every day. The bracelets were lovingly crafted by clients at our Harbourside Seniors Hub.

Recycling Smarts at Harbourside Retirement Living!

Over the last couple of weeks residents from Harbourside Shoal Bay, Fingal Bay and Salamander Bay enjoyed an engaging and informative Recycling & Waste Presentation hosted by Renee from Port Stephens Council.

Renee shared so many great tips and updates to help us stay on top of the latest recycling practices — from what can and can’t go in the yellow bin, to clever ways to reduce household waste.

Thanks to Renee for helping us all become a little greener and more informed!

Kicking Off Aged Care Employee Day Celebrations!

We’re excited to start our Aged Care Employee Day celebrations at Harbourside Home Care!

Veronica — one of our wonderful clients from the Harbourside Seniors Hub — presented our dedicated RN, Mel, with a special gift of appreciation. The surprise included some chocolates and a beautiful handmade bracelet, lovingly created by Veronica and fellow Harbourside clients.

A heartfelt thank you to Mel for the care you give every day, and to our clients for helping us show just how valued our team truly is.

Bocce & BBQ Lunch at Harbourside Shoal Bay!

What a fantastic turnout for our very first Bocce Game Day at Harbourside Shoal Bay! Residents came together for a friendly (and competitive!) round of bocce, filled with laughter, team spirit, and plenty of cheering from the sidelines.

After the games, everyone enjoyed a delicious BBQ lunch — the perfect way to top off a great morning outdoors.

Smiling faces all round and already plenty of buzz about the next game day. We can’t wait to do it all again!
