I love being able
to connect with a diverse range of children/ families who live in rural NSW communities to further support improving their communication skills. I am passionate about supporting children with disabilities as they grow into confident and valuable individuals who are able to communicate with confidence and make a meaningful contribution within our communities. As a mother of a child with additional needs myself, I know the rollercoaster of feelings and emotions that parents may feel on their journey. I recall very early on in my sons diagnosis journey that the professionals were uncertain whether my son would would ever attend main stream school, let alone ever talk. This information was hard to hear, heart breaking, overwhelming and scary but it was what I needed to hear as it was our 'reality'. Early on, I knew that I held a valuable spot within my sons support team, as I knew important information about him, his personality, his development, our family and what his needs were. I knew that my role of 'mum' was a significant and a vital role within the awesome team that I had already built around us. This team would offer my son the best opportunity to achieve his full potential. (The very room which I received that 'reality' check of information, is now the very room which I sit in, during my work week). I can at times appear to be a confused soul. I'm drawn to and love the ocean, but really I'm a country bumpkin at heart. I am also a Speech Pathologist that is raising her two children in Singleton NSW, and providing speech pathology services to the Lower / Upper Hunter region by supporting individuals who have communication &/or swallowing difficulties and their families & their extended support networks.
