📣Exciting News - Coming to you in May

We're so excited to share that we are expanding our services for our Branxton and surrounds communities and are relocating our current Branxton clinic to our new location at 11/22 Empire Street, North Rothbury (next to Coles).

Moving our beautiful clinic to a complete hospital set up.

Our team are busy renovating and preparing the hospital with brand new equipment and we're so excited to welcome you all to our new space.

Same amazing team - continuing to provide the same trusted care, including mixed practice services and 24-hour emergency support. Just adding in the highly anticipated surgical and diagnostics facilities.

For now, business is as usual at our current locations:

🐾 Biscuit the cheeky pup 🤭 🐾

This 10 week old sweetheart had only been in his new home for 2 days when he decided to test out his… very adventurous taste buds.

After vomiting up a sock (not exactly on the recommended puppy diet 😅), his owners noticed he was still eating and drinking but just a little quieter than usual - so they brought him in to be on the safe side.

On exam, Biscuit was bright but a bit more quiet than expected for an oodle pup. Given his recent snack choices, we took some X-rays…

👀 And it turns out, Biscuit had been doing a little home sampling tour:
A very full stomach, a suspicious opacity… and definitely more than just kibble on board.

The safest option was surgery - and it’s a good thing we did. During his ex-lap and gastrotomy, we found:
🪢 A big piece of carpet
🧸 A “jitbit” and part of a toy

Thankfully, nothing had reached the intestines yet - because this could have easily turned into a serious (and life-threatening) linear foreign body.

✨ Biscuit was very lucky, and surgery went beautifully. He’s now home recovering well with his family 💛

Safe to say… this cheeky little pup might need a bit of supervision while exploring his new world 🐶

Here’s hoping he sticks to puppy food from now on 🤞

🖤 Meet Amon 🖤
Amon was brought in by his foster carer after they noticed a subtle limp in his right hind limb.
Dr. Ash recommended hind limb radiographs to investigate further and the X-rays revealed that his right femur is approximately 5 mm shorter than his left. That might not sound like much now, but in a 14 week old kitten who is still growing, this difference can become more noticeable over time.
❓So what exactly happened?
The findings are most consistent with a previous injury to the distal femoral growth plate (also called a physeal or Salter Harris fracture) that likely occurred when he was very young.
Growth plates are areas of cartilage near the ends of long bones that allow bones to lengthen as kittens grow. If a growth plate is damaged, it can close prematurely. When that happens, that bone stops growing, while the opposite limb continues to lengthen normally.
🦴In this case, his fracture has healed and is no longer painful, and the good news is that he is expected to have an excellent quality of life 😻
