Today’s holiday program was a huge success, with heaps of participants coming together to get creative! 💥
We were lucky to have Jacob Watson, one of our amazing support workers and a talented local artist, guiding everyone through some beautiful Indigenous art pieces and flower pot painting 🌸

The day was filled with colour, laughter, and connection — and of course, a free group lunch to top it all off 🍕✨

We’re so proud of everyone who joined in and expressed themselves through art today. 💛

Our Life Skills crew took an old, worn-out pool table and turned it into something awesome! 💪
From sanding, painting, and re-felting — to learning teamwork and taking pride in their work 🙌

Now it’s looking fresh and ready for a few games at The Space 🎱🔥

🌟 Meet Jas! 🌟

We’re excited to introduce Jas, one of our awesome support workers here at Bright Start Supports! 💙

Jas’s role is all about encouraging participants to be the best version of themselves and being a friendly, positive support in their lives.

When we asked Jas what he loves most about his job, he said:

“Every day is different, and I learn so much from our participants just by asking about their interests!”

Outside of work, Jas loves music, woodworking, adventures, and getting out with his mates — basically, anything that gets him out experiencing new things! 🎶🪚🌏

He’s also got a great sense of humour — he joked that in his spare time he “terrorises the local community” 🫨

Jas says his favourite programs to run are Boys Group and Life Skills, where he enjoys building connections and helping participants learn and grow.

When asked what advice he’d give to others, he said it perfectly:

“Do it all. Go experience stuff, go see stuff, eat everything, take it all in, and be kind to others.” ❤️

We’re so lucky to have Jas as part of the Bright Start team — always bringing a smile, good energy, and his trademark humour wherever he goes!

🎨✨ Art Attack at The Space! ✨🎨

Today Bright Start hosted our holiday art program and it was an absolute hit with participants of all ages!

🖌️ Morning session: everyone got creative drawing pictures and painting their very own canvases. We also added colourful handprints to our community mural – such a special touch that will stay with us!

🍕 Lunch: nothing better than pizza to fuel more fun and creativity.

🌈 Afternoon session: the energy kept flowing with chalk drawings outside, more sketching, and then some free play. The kids loved playing Jenga and quoits together – and of course an impromptu dance party broke out with lots of giggles and high vibes. 💃🕺

Such a fantastic day celebrating creativity, friendship, and fun. Thank you to everyone who joined in – you all made this Art Attack one to remember! 💖

🌟 Comic-Con 2025 Recap! 🌟

What an incredible trip! Over the weekend, our Bright Start crew had the chance to dive into the world of Comic-Con, and every single participant did absolutely phenomenal. 🙌✨
• We took on the challenge of navigating public transport, building independence and confidence along the way. 🚆🚌
• Each night, the boys cooked their own dinners, practicing teamwork, independence, and healthy living skills. 🍳🥗
• The group got into the spirit of Comic-Con by dressing up in costumes 🎭🦸‍♂️, which was not only fun but also a great way to build self-confidence and creativity.
• We stepped into busy, high-energy environments filled with thousands of people—something outside the comfort zone for many—and the boys and girls handled it amazingly well. 💬🤝
• A big part of the trip was learning to share living spaces respectfully, and the group did a fantastic job working together. 🏠👏

Every single participant should be extremely proud of the effort, resilience, and growth they showed. We couldn’t be prouder of how well they represented themselves and Bright Start. 🌟💜
