Our Monday Cooking Group has been such a hit that we’ve reached full capacity!

Due to the amazing demand, we’re now opening a brand new Tuesday Cooking Group starting Tuesday, September 2nd.

✨ Learn new budget friendly recipes
✨ Build independence and confidence in the kitchen
✨ Connect with others and have fun while cooking

🎉 Happy Birthday Katie! 🎉

Today we’re not only celebrating Katie’s birthday, but also introducing her properly to the Bright Start community! 💫

Katie has been part of our team for 8 months now, and she’s already made a huge impact. She’s got a beautiful heart, a quick wit, and she keeps us all laughing with her down-to-earth country girl charm. 🤠

When she’s not bringing her energy and kindness to Bright Start, Katie is busy studying Radiation Therapy at uni, working towards a career helping people in a whole new way. Talk about brains and heart! 🧠❤️

A few fun facts about Katie:
✨ She has a weakness for chocolate milkshakes after a long day.
✨ And she’s always the first to lend a hand, whether it’s helping participants, her team, or just brightening someone’s day.

We’re so lucky to have Katie on the Bright Start team, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing things she’ll do – both here and in her studies. 💐

🍳 Cooking Group on Monday has been absolutely thriving — we’re almost at capacity thanks to our amazing participants who bring so much energy and flavour to the kitchen.

🥾 One-on-One Supports took things to the next level with some serious hikes — including a challenging 10 km trek! Along the way, participants built essential life skills, explored employment opportunities, and enjoyed getting out into the community.

🚆 Wednesday Group is officially at capacity! This week, they navigated the curveballs of real-world travel when train services were down, turning it into an adventure with a trip to Newcastle’s Science Museum and a fantastic day out.

💪 Life Skills Group on Friday reached its biggest turnout yet! Together, we tackled cleaning the space, sprucing up the cars, and finishing strong with a motivating gym session.

🏁 Sunday Social saw us head to the racetrack for an adrenaline-filled day at the Hill Climb! The high-speed action and roaring engines made for an unforgettable outing, with plenty of excitement trackside.

Bright Start is buzzing with growth, challenges, and amazing achievements — all thanks to our incredible participants and team. Here’s to another big week ahead! 💖

🚀 Boys Group Now on Thursdays Too! 🎉

Our Bright Start Boys Group has been such a hit on Wednesdays that we’ve reached full capacity – so we’re adding an extra session on Thursdays! 🙌

The Boys Group is all about fun, mateship, and new experiences – giving boys the chance to get active, explore, and build confidence in a supportive, social environment. Each week brings something new, from outdoor adventures and sports, to creative projects and exciting excursions.

Whether it’s bushwalking, fishing, go-karting, train trips, or just getting out into the community, every activity is designed to encourage teamwork, problem-solving, and friendship – all while having a blast. 💪

🚗 BRIGHT START – Muscle in the Brook! 🏁
On Saturday, 30 August, we’re heading to Muscle in the Brook – an epic charity day raising funds for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter 🚁.

We’ll be checking out heaps of amazing cars at the show, soaking in the atmosphere, and enjoying the sights, sounds, and smells of all things automotive.

🍔 Lunch – Clients are welcome to bring their own or grab something delicious from one of the many food vendors on-site.

🏎 Go-Karting Fun! – Bright Start will be running our own go-karting competition during the day. Please bring $60 to join in and see who will take the crown! 🏆

It’s going to be a day of cars, racing, food, and fun – all for a great cause.

🏎️🔥 Bright Start’s Wet & Wild Hill Climb Day!

What a day at Bright Start! 🌧️🔥 Today we braved the wet weather to watch the MG Club’s Hill Climb 🏁 — and wow, did we get a show! From roaring engines to a few unexpected bumps and crashes (everyone’s okay!), there was never a dull moment. We kept warm and fuelled up with a sizzling BBQ 🍔🌭, cheering on the drivers as they tackled the slippery track. Rain, racing, and good company — that’s our kind of Sunday!

✨ This Week at Bright Start! ✨

Another action-packed week with our awesome crew! 💥💛

Our Cooking Group whipped up some delicious DIY kebabs – everyone got stuck into prepping fresh ingredients and learning new skills in the kitchen. Safe to say, no one left hungry! 🍢👩‍🍳

Our 1:1 supports were full of adventure – from bushwalks in the great outdoors to an exciting visit to the Reptile Park! We’ve been all about keeping things fun, active, and engaging. 🐍🌳🎒

We’ve also been encouraging our participants to embrace a healthy, active lifestyle – hitting the gym, learning about balanced eating, and building strong habits for the future. 🏋️‍♂️🥗💪

Our Social Group soared into the past at the Warbirds Aviation Museum, exploring old aircraft before heading out for a scenic bushwalk. Planes, mates, and nature – the perfect combo! ✈️🛩️🚶‍♀️

And in our Life Skills Group, we dove into some practical learning with car care, budgeting, and cooking on a budget – real-world skills to build confidence and independence. 🚗🔧💰🍳

We’re so proud of everyone smashing their goals and giving it a red-hot go – bring on next week! 🙌

What a week it’s been! One of our awesome participants hit a major milestone and got their L plates – huge congrats! 🙌🚗

Our 1-on-1 supports continued to focus on individual goals, with plenty of progress, growth, and smiles all around 😊

👨‍🍳 Monday’s Cooking Group served up another great session full of flavour and life skills.
🔫 Wednesday’s Social Group brought the energy with a competitive round of Laser Tag – teamwork and fun in full swing!
🧽 Friday’s Life Skills Group tackled the not-so-glamorous but super important task of bathroom cleaning 🛁 … but balanced it out by cooking a delicious lunch together 🍲

Every week, our participants are growing, learning, and achieving – and we’re proud to be part of their journey 💪
