Food For Thought?
One of the biggest drawcards for our at-risk youth wasn’t money.
It wasn’t rewards.
It wasn’t handouts.
It was something simple.
Three solid meals a day.
For some of these young people, that was the first time they could rely on that.
And in many cases, they didn’t just eat — they cooked, prepared and froze meals to take home to their families.
With the tiny amount of funding we had, we built something powerful.
A food harvest project that produced over TWO TONNES of food in just seven months!!!!
And every bit of it went back into our Sunshine Coast community.
This is the only program in the region that runs 12 months or longer if needed — not 10 weeks like most government-funded programs.
Last year, our teens gave back more to this community than some of the larger companies that profit from operating here have done in their entire careers.
READ THAT AGAIN!
✔️ Every young person passed First Aid
✔️ Many completed their White Card
✔️ 75% moved into full-time employment or further study
✔️ Learner’s permits achieved
✔️ Accommodation secured for those who needed it
In 2025 alone, over 40 young people came through our doors.
And we did it all on less than what it costs to incarcerate ONE child for a year in Queensland.
LET THAT SINK IN!!!
When you invest in young people, they don’t just survive —
they contribute.
They build.
They give back.
The question isn’t whether early intervention works.
The question is why we aren’t funding more of it.
