Today is International Day of Sign Languages! 🤟

Sign languages are full, rich, and beautiful natural languages, with their own grammar and expression. Did you know there are over 300 distinct sign languages around the world? In Australia, Auslan plays that role, connecting people, families, and communities across the country.

We believe communication is for everyone. Whether you sign, speak, write, or listen with your eyes, every language matters.

Today we’re celebrating National Family Business Day! 🎉

Family businesses are the backbone of our communities, creating opportunities, providing local jobs, and giving back in ways that go far beyond business alone.

For us, being a family business means more than just working together. It’s about living our values, building connections, and making a real difference in the lives of the people we serve every day. 💛

Because when families thrive, communities grow stronger.

Brendon and Sarah showcased their baking skills this year to whip up some sweet treats for the team as we mark RU Ok? Day together.

More seriously though, in line with this year's theme, for us it's more than just today, it's asking as part of our everyday.

Any day is a good opportunity to connect with your colleagues, friends and family. Those three words and having that conversation could make a significant impact on someone's life.

If you're unsure how to respond when someone isn’t feeling okay, the R U OK? team have created various resources on their website (https://www.ruok.org.au/) to guide you through the next steps.

So, if you haven't done so already, take the initiative to have that conversation. Be brave and check in with those around you, not just today, but any day.

👋 Meet Phill!

With a background spanning carpentry, joinery, and global photography assignments, Phill has worn many hats throughout his career. His time in London working with the Metropolitan Police sparked a deeper passion for helping people, which eventually led him into support work.

Since moving to Australia in 2007, Phill has combined creativity and care, working as a photographer across fashion, food, and tourism before completing a Certificate III in Individual Support.

When he’s not working with participants, you’ll most likely find Phill outdoors hiking, biking, surfing, or tackling a renovation project. Family time is just as important, and weekends often mean camping adventures with his wife of 29 years, their two kids, and three dogs.

We’re excited to have Phill bringing his skills, empathy and energy to the TCCQ team.

Thank you for guiding, supporting, and being there in ways big and small.
