Sitting in your hospital bed in the stillness of the night, with everyone around you asleep, you are left alone with your thoughts. And wow, silence takes your mind to many places.
I've always felt like I’ve been searching for my home—a place where I truly resonate, a place where I fit. I’ve been on this journey to return to somewhere I’m from, not knowing if that place is here on this planet or somewhere else entirely. I’ve always felt like the odd one out, never fully belonging, never quite fitting in, no matter where I was. There’s always been this sense that there was something more to do, but I’ve never really known what it was or what my soul was calling me toward.
For a while, I would manage to fit in—whether playing or coaching sports, at home, or at work—but eventually, I wouldn’t. I would find myself out of place, unable to conform to whatever box I was meant to fit into.
This feeling persists, a deep soul-calling that there’s something more and a longing to return “home.” Through meditation and by listening to my body, I hope to gain some insights into what this all means—what I am here to do, what my true calling is. They say the messages and the magic are in the silence, so I welcome it.
One thing I do know is that I belong here, in this moment. I call all parts of myself back to me.
If you feel like you don’t fit in, or can’t squeeze into the box society expects you to, that’s a good thing because you are a unique human being. We are all different, yet we are all one. Regardless of race, religion, creed, gender, or beliefs, we are all in this together. We are here to learn from each other and embrace our uniqueness. We don’t have to fit in or conform to what is considered “normal” (whatever that may be).
Embrace your uniqueness, as well as the differences in others. We are all here at this time for a reason, and that reason is as unique as you are.
I’ve come to the realization that I need to surrender and go with the flow. I need to listen to my body, my heart, my intuition, and trust that there is a higher force guiding me in the right direction. The hurdles, roadblocks, and trauma along the way are here for me to learn from, to guide me back to my journey.
I am so grateful to have loving family and friends around me—people who see me, hold me, and love me unconditionally.
So, embrace your uniqueness and be true to who you are, for you are one of a kind. Spread gratitude and love to yourself, to everyone, and to everything. We are all brothers and sisters on this planet at this time, so let’s make it what we want it to be.
