Professionalization and Identity Construction of French Osteopathy: Toward a Hybrid Model - This professional commentary analyzes the professionalization and identity construction of osteopathy in France against a backdrop of partial legal recognition and fragmented regulation. Drawing on a cross-disciplinary theoretical framework (Freidson; Abbott; Dubar; Wittorski; Larose), this commentary provides a multidimensional interpretation of the tensions between individual autonomy and collective structuring. In comparison with the British, American, Australian, New Zealand, Swiss, Belgian, and Italian trajectories, French osteopathy emerges as a hybrid model.

Building Osteopathic Research Capacity in France: The CFRO Scientific Council's Response to the International Agenda - We were pleased to read Hohenschurz-Schmidt et al.'s editorial [1], which calls for closer collaboration between research teams and warns against a disconnect between researchers and societal priorities in the field of osteopathy. This letter describes a French initiative that directly responds to this agenda.

From Documentation to Judgment: What Peer-Supported Audit Really Changes in IFOMPT Implementation - Bailey and Draper-Rodi [1] make an important contribution by showing that a structured continuing professional development activity comprising an overview of the IFOMPT framework, self-audit, anonymised group feedback, peer discussion, and individual action planning improved documented implementation of the framework among practising osteopaths. The improvement across nine of 13 audit criteria, together with gains in vascular hypothesis, informed consent, and safety netting, directly supports the authors’ proposition that collective learning can strengthen implementation in osteopathic practice.

Response to: "From Documentation to Judgment: What Peer-Supported Audit Really Changes in IFOMPT Implementation" - We thank Wahyudin and colleagues for their commentary on our study (Bailey and Draper-Rodi, 2026). Their letter raises important questions about the mechanisms through which peer-supported audit may produce practice change (Wahyudin, H. Julina, SN. Megawati, M. Khotimah, H. Prabowo, AS., 2026), and we welcome the opportunity to reflect further on our findings in light of their observations.

A survey of United Kingdom (UK) Animal Osteopaths: Training and Clinical Practice - The use of veterinary paraprofessionals, including osteopaths, to maintain the musculoskeletal wellbeing of animals has increased. Although the field of osteopathy is expanding rapidly, very little is known about the animal osteopathic profession and scope of practice within the United Kingdom (UK).

Pain-related Knowledge and Attitudes of Osteopaths Practicing in Switzerland: Insights from a Cross-Sectional Study - Understanding pain through a biopsychosocial framework is essential for effective, patient-centered care. Among osteopaths, misconceptions about pain mechanisms may hinder appropriate clinical reasoning, patient communication, and treatment options.

CHEST WALL PAIN: IMPLICATIONS FOR MUSCULOSKELETAL AND RESPIRATORY HEALTH CARE - Chest pain remains one of the most common reasons for presentation to emergency and primary care departments. While life-threatening cardiopulmonary causes must be excluded as a priority, a substantial proportion of patients are ultimately classified as having non-cardiac or non-pulmonary chest pain, with musculoskeletal chest wall disorders representing a large subgroup of patients. This commentary examines the clinical positioning of musculoskeletal chest wall pain in contemporary healthcare systems.

Perceptions of osteopaths with specific undergraduate psychologically informed osteopathic training regarding its usefulness in clinical practice: a mixed-methods study with implications for education - Musculoskeletal pain is among the leading causes of disability worldwide (Hoy et al., 2014) and represents a significant challenge for contemporary healthcare management. Evidence indicates that psychosocial factors can contribute to pain persistence and are associated with greater levels of pain-related disability (Meints and Edwards, 2018; Jackson et al., 2014). Consequently, contemporary clinical guidelines for musculoskeletal pain increasingly emphasize the need to consider psychosocial factors and adopt person-centered, multimodal management strategies consistent with a biopsychosocial framework (NICE, 2016; Qaseem et al., 2017; Lin et al., 2020; Hopman et al., 2013).

Exploring the dynamics of a multi-Professional care approach in pediatric oncology: Insights from the Sport Therapy Project – A Focus Group Study - Leukemia is a group of hematologic malignancies where acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) stands as the most prevalent form in pediatric cases, making up 80% of diagnoses, with acute myeloid leukemia accounting for the remaining 20% [1]. In Italy, the primary approach to leukemia treatment involves chemotherapy, adhering to the protocols set by the Associazione Italiana Ematologia e Oncologia Pediatrica (AIEOP), which are structured into four phases over approximately two years. For patients who fail to respond to initial drug therapies or experience relapses, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation becomes a viable option, and recent advancements have introduced immunotherapy for cases of ALL resistant to conventional treatments [2].

FATIGUE IN LONG COVID: AN EXPLORATORY PRAGMATIC RANDOMIZED TRIAL OF OSTEOPATHIC CARE PLUS PHYSICAL THERAPY VERSUS PHYSICAL THERAPY ALONE - This study assessed whether osteopathic care (OC) combined with physical therapy (PT) is more effective than PT alone in reducing fatigue and functional limitations in adults with long COVID.

Reframing the Association Between Adverse Childhood Experiences and Autoimmune Rheumatic Disease: Moving From Observed Links to Underlying Mechanisms - We read with great interest the systematic review by (1) on the association between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and the risk of developing autoimmune rheumatic disease (ARD). The article is both timely and thought-provoking because it brings developmental trauma into conversation with rheumatology, a field that has traditionally prioritized genetics, inflammation, and lifestyle risk factors. We appreciate the authors’ effort to synthesize an emerging body of evidence suggesting that early adversity may shape later autoimmune vulnerability.
