Development of a research mentorship program for Australian osteopaths. - Current initiatives to support osteopathic clinicians’ endeavours to increase their research engagement are lacking. Following investigation of current mentorship programs run by professional, health, and academic institutions in addition to available literature, OA established a formal mentorship program to support and facilitate the research interests of osteopaths in Australia. This manuscript describes the development of this program, including criteria for both mentors and mentees, the participant matching process, mentor and mentee training, the role of the organisation, and plans for program evaluation.

Comparing the effects of home exercise programmes and supervised exercise therapy on functional disability in adults with chronic non-specific low back pain. A Systematic Review of Randomised Controlled Trials - Low back pain is the highest contributor to years lived with disability. Many patients experience symptoms lasting over 12 weeks, often without a specific pathology. It remains unclear whether one type of exercise is superior for treating chronic non-specific low back pain (CNSLBP), and few trials have explored whether the exercise setting influences outcomes.

Exploring scholarship in osteopathic education: A qualitative study of faculty perspectives at a United Kingdon institution - The terms 'scholarship' and 'scholarly work' feature prominently in educational, research and clinical practice literature. However, their interpretation and application vary considerably across academic awards and professional contexts. This raises the question: what do these terms signify to educators and healthcare professionals (HCPs) who engage in education, healthcare, research, or combinations thereof?

Osteopathy Educators’ and Researchers’ Perspectives on Artificial Intelligence in Academia: A Cross-Sectional Study - Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly being integrated into healthcare education and research, yet little is known about how AI is perceived within osteopathy. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first cross-sectional study to examine AI perspectives specifically among osteopathic educators and researchers, providing fresh insights into technology adoption within this healthcare discipline.

Understanding specific, contextual and non-specific effects in osteopathy - Osteopathic care has been a part of the healthcare landscape for many years, and whilst diverse in its practice, in many world regions it has a predominant focus on musculoskeletal care. Despite the extensive history of osteopathy, the paradigms, principles and modes of effect that occur within its delivery lack consensus. Of the proposed modes of effect, many are based on specific and local phenomena that lack robust evidence supporting their proposed mechanisms. Recent research has promoted a shift away from exclusively explaining clinical outcomes through specific effects but rather, conceptualising these outcomes through the interplay of specific, non-specific and contextual effects.

Employment characteristics of individuals who received osteopathic care: a retrospective cross-sectional observational study - The profile and clinical presentation of people consulting osteopaths in Belgium has been studied and reported before. Information on employment aspects of such individuals is lacking. The aim was to contribute to filling this gap.

Repositioning Menstrual Pain Management: Multidisciplinary Collaboration and Cultural Sensitivity as Key Priorities - I read with great interest the recent publication on the effectiveness of osteopathic manual therapy in alleviating symptoms of primary dysmenorrhea [1]. The study offers valuable insight into complementary approaches for a condition that continues to affect a significant proportion of women globally, often impairing their quality of life and daily functioning. In light of these findings, I would like to emphasize two critical considerations that deserve further attention: the necessity of a multidisciplinary management model and the importance of individualized care, particularly in culturally diverse settings such as Indonesia.

Osteopathic intervention for inflammatory conditions of the lactating breast: a case series - Inflammatory conditions of the lactating breast (ICLB) are responsible for many cases of early weaning. Patients with ICLB seek care from osteopaths with treatment often including osteopathic manual therapy (OMT) and therapeutic ultrasound (TUS). The aim of this case series is to measure change in inflammatory symptoms following OMT and TUS in patients with ICLB.

Relationship of forward head posture with cervical muscle thickness and neck pain-related disability among young adults: a cross-sectional study - Forward head posture (FHP) is a common postural disorder in patients with neck pain. Despite the intuitive assumption that FHP determines neck pain characteristics, its effect on neck pain and cervical muscle morphology is unclear.
