Apple Tree Medical has a QML Pathology room conveniently located within the clinic, open Monday to Friday 8:00am-12:00pm.

Patients with appointments during these hours who have been provided with a pathology form by their doctor can have their blood tests completed immediately.

Otherwise if you have a form and need to get a blood test come see QML from 8-12:00!

🏃♀️🌳 Practicing What I Preach: Exercise & Connection in Action! 🌳🏃♀️
As a GP and director at Apple Tree Medical, I constantly remind my patients about the power of exercise and strong social connections for both physical and mental health.
This past weekend, I had the chance to follow my own advice—joining friends to run the City to Surf through rain and laughter!
The experience was a wonderful reminder that moving together isn’t just good for our bodies; it strengthens our spirits and our bonds. Exercising with others turns a challenge into a celebration, making every kilometre meaningful and fun.
I encourage everyone: don’t just read about the benefits—live them! Grab a friend, get outside, and make time to connect, laugh, and move. Your wellbeing depends on it, and I’ll always be here cheering you on—rain, hail, or shine!

What a weekend!

A huge thank you to everyone who cheered us on, waved from the sidelines, or popped by the Apple Tree Medical tent Cairns Marathon Festival— your support meant the world 💚

We’re so proud of our 20-strong running team, made up of doctors, nurses, admin staff, family and friends. Whether it was 2km or a half marathon, every person gave it their all, and pushed through doubts to cross that finish line. 👏👏👏

The Apple Tree Medical Running Team is hitting the pavement this weekend at Cairns Marathon Festival

We’ve got 18 amazing team members — including ALL our doctors, as well as nurses and admin crew, and a few family and friends — all taking on distances from 2km to the half marathon & support crew. 🏃🏃‍♀️💪

In 2014 we decided we would advertise on the back of a Sunbus. Proofs were done and looked fabulous, to say the finished product surprised us is an understatement. 🍆😂

We still get a chuckle when it pops up in my memories.

CPR Refresher for the Team!

Keeping our skills up to date is so important, which is why our team recently took part in a CPR refresher session. It’s one of those things you hope you never have to use, but being prepared can make all the difference in an emergency.

A big thank you to Rescue-1 for making the session engaging and practical—we’re feeling confident and ready (but fingers crossed we won’t need to put it into action anytime soon!).

👩‍⚕️ Dr. Kelsey Wakefield – Originally from the Gold Coast, Kelsey made the move to Cairns in 2022 and quickly fell in love with the tropical North Queensland lifestyle. She enjoys all areas of general practice and, in her spare time, loves playing water polo, traveling, and spending time with her beloved ragdoll cat.
