“What got me through was the image of the sun on the water in our class that morning. I took a deep breath and remembered how I felt.” 

One of my beautiful clients shared this with me today after having a really challenging day at work yesterday. 

And honestly… this is why I teach yoga.

Yoga isn’t just about stretching or what happens on the mat for 60 minutes. The real magic is what happens afterwards - when life feels stressful, emotions feel big, work feels overwhelming, or your nervous system feels overloaded… and you suddenly remember to pause, breathe, soften, and reconnect with yourself.

At Sparkling Soul Yoga, we’re not just building strength and flexibility.
We’re building resilience.
We’re calming the nervous system.
We’re creating moments of peace that you can carry into your everyday life.

Science shows that mindful movement, breathwork and relaxation practices can help reduce stress hormones like cortisol, regulate the nervous system, improve emotional regulation, and support mental wellbeing. And sometimes, all it takes is one deep breath and one calming memory to shift how you move through your day.

As we move toward winter here in the Southern Hemisphere, it’s the perfect time to check in with your body, reset your routines, and prepare yourself physically and mentally for the colder months 🍂

The theme of our upcoming retreat is:

And even if you’re not joining us for the retreat, there are many evidence-informed ways yoga and mindful lifestyle practices can support your health and wellbeing through winter.

Research suggests yoga may help support the body during winter by:
🧠 Helping regulate the nervous system and reduce chronic stress
🧠 Lowering cortisol levels (our primary stress hormone when elevated long-term)
🧠 Supporting sleep quality and recovery
🧠 Improving circulation and blood flow through movement and breath
🧠 Encouraging lymphatic movement, which plays a role in immune function
🧠 Supporting respiratory health through breath awareness and breathing exercises
🧠 Reducing muscular tension, stiffness, and sedentary behaviour
🧠 Supporting mental wellbeing during seasons where people may experience lower mood, fatigue, or overwhelm

When stress remains elevated for long periods, the body can stay in a more constant “fight or flight” state. Over time this may impact sleep, energy, recovery, immune function, inflammation, and overall wellbeing.

Practices like yoga, mindfulness, slow breathing, rest, and nervous system regulation can help shift the body toward a more restorative parasympathetic state - often called “rest and digest” mode - where healing and recovery are better supported.

Some simple ways to support yourself this winter:

✨ Keep moving gently and regularly
✨ Practice slow breathing to support nervous system regulation
✨ Spend time outdoors and get morning sunlight exposure
✨ Nourish yourself with warming wholefoods and hydration

This year I’m packing my yoga mat, passport, curiosity, and sense of adventure… because I’m heading back to INDIA 🇮🇳 for the THIRD time and SPAIN 🇪🇸 for the second time!

And honestly… I cannot wait to share the journey with you 💛

There is something so special about travelling. The people, the culture, the food, the lessons, the moments that slow you down and remind you to really live. Every trip changes me a little - and I love bringing those experiences back into my yoga, my teaching, and my everyday life.

"Hello Tuesday.”
“Welcome to Wednesday.”
“Happy Friday.”

You’ll often hear me say this at the beginning of my yoga classes or on my stories.
And there’s a reason why. 💛

Working in the mental health hospital has taught me so much about the importance of grounding ourselves in the present moment. When people are overwhelmed, burnt out, anxious, unwell, grieving, or disconnected from themselves… they can lose track of time, routine, and even what day it is.

Days blur together.
Life can start to feel heavy and foggy.

So something as simple as gently naming the day becomes more significant than we might realise.

It’s an invitation to arrive.
To pause.
To reconnect.
To come back into this moment.

Not yesterday.
Not next week.
Just here.

Yoga is not only about movement. It’s about orientation. Connection. Awareness. Creating small moments that help us feel safe, steady, and anchored in our lives again.

So when I say “Hello Tuesday,” what I’m really saying is…
✨ I’m glad you’re here.
✨ You made it to today.
✨ Let’s take this moment together.

And maybe that’s enough for now. 🤍

Ever heard of temptation bundling?
I only just learnt about it… and honestly, it makes so much sense.

Temptation bundling is when you pair something you want to do with something you need to do - making healthy habits feel more enjoyable, easier, and more sustainable.

And yoga is the PERFECT example. 💛

Maybe it looks like:
🌿 Rolling out your mat with your favourite playlist
☕ Treating yourself to a beautiful coffee after your morning class
🌅 Watching the sunrise during outdoor yoga
🕯️ Lighting a candle before your evening flow
👯 Catching up with a friend while moving your body together
📺 Joining yoga on Zoom in your comfiest clothes before the rest of the house wakes up

Healthy habits don’t always have to feel hard or disciplined.
Sometimes the secret is creating little moments you genuinely look forward to.

Because when movement feels good… we’re far more likely to keep showing up.

Some days I pause and truly take in how incredibly privileged I am to do this work. 

To every single person who rolls out their mat beside me… thank you.

Thank you for trusting me with your stories.
The highs, the lows, the hard seasons and the beautiful moments in between.
Your openness, honesty and vulnerability are gifts I never take for granted.

How lucky am I to hold space where you can simply be.
A space to rest.
To feel safe.
To reconnect with your body.
To breathe deeply and pause for a moment in a world that constantly asks you to do more.

A space where movement becomes medicine.
Where health is nurtured gently.
Where you are seen, supported and welcomed exactly as you are.

I love that together we get to step outside, feel the sunshine on our skin, move in fresh air and remember what it feels like to slow down and experience life beyond the rush of schedules and screens.

To rest.
To recharge.
To recalibrate.
To rewrite the narrative that productivity is the measure of your worth.

OMG… guess what just happened 😳✨

I was finishing up at my waxing appointment today, chatting to the owner goodbye - we’ve known each other for over 16 years now. I was showing her a photo of my son when a lady sitting nearby suddenly turned to me and said…

“Sorry… I just have to say hi. I follow you on Instagram.”

Ummm… WHAT?! 😂🤯

Honestly, I was completely caught off guard.
Such a small moment… but also such a beautiful reminder that what we share online really does reach people.

Sometimes you post and wonder if anyone is even listening.
And then life gives you these little magical moments that remind you there are real humans on the other side of the screen. 💛

So if you’re here following along on my Sparkling Soul Yoga journey… thank you.

Today I had one of those conversations that stays with you 💛

A colleague and I were chatting today - not about the work we were actually doing, but about our side hustles. I’m 3 years into building mine, she’s 1 year in.

I mentioned that my latest retreat had sold out and she was a little in awe. A few questions later… we were talking about social media, connecting with clients, using AI, preparing for classes, believing in yourself and putting yourself out there.

Then she said something that stopped me for a moment… “I think you’re my idol.”

And while that gave me a little moment of kudos, what really landed was this:

You know more than you think you do.

Because it has not been easy getting here.

Before Sparkling Soul Yoga, I didn’t have Instagram.
I barely engaged on Facebook.
I was always a behind-the-scenes girl.

But there is something powerful about finding yourself on your soul’s path. About believing in a vision so deeply that you keep going, even when you doubt yourself.

And trust me… I have doubted myself.

I can count:
✨ 3 business coaches
✨ 1 yoga mastermind
✨ countless trainings
✨ empty classes
✨ tears
✨ lost Facebook accounts
✨ moments of believing everyone else could do it better
✨ moments of not believing in myself at all

But I never gave up.

Because this is my purpose.
This is my soul’s work.

I think sometimes we underestimate how much courage it takes to become the version of ourselves we were always meant to be.

To become visible.
To back ourselves.
To keep showing up.

And maybe that’s your reminder today too:
Keep going.

The version of you that feels uncertain right now may one day become the person someone else looks at and thinks…
“If she can do it, maybe I can too.”

And honestly… I feel like this is only the beginning 💫

There is so much more to come, so many dreams still unfolding, and I would absolutely love to have you on this journey with me.
