This Perinatal Mental Health Week, we’re shining a light on the 1 in 5 mothers and 1 in 10 fathers who experience perinatal anxiety or depression. 💙

At Mater, we believe that caring for a baby includes caring for parents too. Support is always available at Catherine's House - where families are at the heart of what we do.

Together, we can break the stigma and ensure every parent feels supported through pregnancy and beyond.

Forty years ago, at Mater Private Hospital Mackay, admin officer Linda Caruana went into early labour at 29 weeks.

Fortunately, her friends and midwife colleagues Karen Wade and Janet Ezzy were working and helped safely deliver her daughter Angela who weighed just 960 grams.

Reminiscing on the unexpected birth, Mater Private Hospital Mackay General Manager Karen Wade said everyone’s training kicked into gear.

“I’m a special care trained nurse, and Janet was great in labour wards, so it was a good skill mix that night and a great outcome for Linda and her new daughter.”

They’d love to see how much your little miracles have grown!
