It was a labour of love for mum Sonam Palyal who gave birth to one of Mater's first babies of 2026. 💕🎆

Her son Shivraj arrived at 2.06 am on New Year's Day after being in labour for two days.

Dad Raj had been predicting his third child, would be born on January first even though he wasn't due for another week.

It's the third child for the Sumner Park couple who have had all three children born at Mater Mothers' Brisbane.

"We are thrilled that he is one of the first babies to be born in Queensland this year and I'm so thankful for the great care I received at Mater," Mrs Palyal said.

Raymond and Malcolm are celebrating Christmas with extra cheer this year! 🎄😆

When the twins were born at Mater Mothers' Hospital in 2020, they were just 29 weeks' gestation. 💕

The boys suffered from twisted intestines and began a year-long stay in Mater Mothers' Neonatal Critical Care Unit.

Now five years old, the twins are thriving and will soon receive surgery to close their mic-key button tracks. 🥰
