We’re proudly celebrating more than 1,300 Mater People recognised for their dedication, commitment and continued delivery of compassionate care to our community 💙

Together, they represent an incredible 15,000+ years of service.
A special congratulations to Gill Baxter, Senior Administration Officer at Mater Mothers’ Hospital Brisbane and our longest serving award recipient, with an extraordinary 50 years of service. Gill began her Mater journey at just 16 as a clerk typist in radiology at South Brisbane, before moving into her much loved role at Mater Mothers’ Hospital.

We also celebrate John Hustler from Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton, marking 40 years of service. John’s journey began when he filled in for a theatre orderly on leave — and he’s been dedicated to his role ever since.

And a special mention to Midwife Heather Meurant, celebrating 30 years at Mater Private Hospital Townsville. Heather started at Mater Private Hospital Mackay before moving north, and during her career has even had the joy of supporting a baby who later returned to Mater as a midwife herself ✨

Twins Miles and Chester arrived at Mater Mothers' Hospital just 18 minutes apart — but on different days, either side of midnight. Even more incredible, the fraternal twins weighed exactly the same at birth: 2.96kg each.
