Why we work together and why it matters for your child.
Here at House of Wellness, two of our practitioners have been quietly building something we are really proud of: an integrated care model that brings together neurodevelopmental therapy and chiropractic care for children who are struggling.
Tegan Piacentini (Neurodevelopmental Practitioner) and Dr Mira Kokir (Bunbury Family Chiro) now work side by side to support children from the ground up, and here is why that combination is so powerful.
🌿 THE NERVOUS SYSTEM NEEDS A STRONG FOUNDATION
Primitive reflex integration (the heart of Tegan’s work) helps the brain and nervous system mature by gently resolving early movement patterns that should have switched off in infancy. When these reflexes are retained, they can affect everything from reading and writing to emotional regulation, coordination, sleep and anxiety.
But for that neurological work to take hold as deeply and efficiently as possible, the nervous system needs clear pathways to work through. That is where Dr Mira comes in.
🌿 THE SPINE AND THE BRAIN ARE IN CONSTANT CONVERSATION
Chiropractic care supports the structural and neurological integrity of the spine, the physical highway between the brain and the body. When spinal function is optimised, nerve signals travel more clearly and the nervous system is better placed to respond to the reflex integration work.
Think of it this way: Mira prepares the road. Tegan teaches the brain to drive it.
🌿 WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE FOR YOUR FAMILY
Children who come to Tegan for an initial assessment may be referred to Dr Mira as part of their care plan and vice versa. The two programmes then run concurrently, coordinated, communicating and working toward the same goal.
