Have you ever prioritized a good nights sleep, then woke up feeling MORE tired?! 🥱
💡 lightbulb moment 💡
We’ve been confused into thinking that sleep & rest are the same thing, when they’re not 🤯
We’re actually missing out on other types of rest that we don’t know we desperately need!
🌺 It’s also likely that you need different types of rest on different days of the week or depending on where you are in your cycle. 🌺
Here are my tips on how you can RESTORE the 7 Types of Rest ☀️
😴 Physical:
- Passive; Sleep, napping
- Active; yoga, stretching, massage.
- Incorporate small, frequent movement into your day if you’re a desk worker.
😵💫 Mental:
- List & prioritize to avoid overwhelm.
- Use a timer to take short breaks throughout the day.
🫣 Emotional:
- Open up & share with another person.
- If this feels too exposed, write down what you are feeling.
👯♀️ Social:
- Spending mindful time alone or with people who lift you up and restore you.
- Setting boundaries to avoid social fatigue, or depletion of your own energy.
🫶 Spiritual:
- Connect for meaning & belonging through community, volunteering or work culture.
- Reiki to reconnect with your body & mind.
🎧 Sensory:
- Dedicated quiet time to unplug or disconnect from people or electronics.
- Listen to calming music to help balance your brain waves & nervous system.
🎨 Creative:
- Add elements of ‘holiday time’ into your life; museum visit, nature walk, lunching at a fancy cafe on your lunch break, find your inner child & play (Hot Tip: rent some rollerblades & let your inner roll child out!! I did this recently, and it was both hilarious and scary at the same time 🙈)
- Add some inspiration to your workspace; photos, notes, plants etc.
So get resting!
