39% of women birthed by cesarean in 2022, that is over 1 in 3. Internationally renown researcher and writer Hazel Keedle is in Perth on October 25th for a workshop on birthing after a cesarean. This workshop goes through the education and support we can learn for our own experience and as birth workers (midwives, doulas, obstetricians etc), how to work with women to prepare for their next birth.
I am really looking forward to this in depth workshop because with over 1/3 women we care for had had a cesarean, I need to learn more than what my midwifery course has covered.
It is also perfect timing as I will be just done with my 2nd year (2/3 down!).

Kaya lovely people,
I am back at Birthing Wellness after weeks of learning. Learning to be on holiday with little people and learning about monitoring complex pregnancies within the hospital system.
It's been wild.
I had to go and ground my feet in the bush before I come back to massage. I've opened Saturday 19th and 26th for massage and I am looking forward to seeing you. Regular massage days remain the same : Thursday and Friday.

In June, I am taking a couple of weeks off to breathe on a little family holiday. Then I will be on placement for 3 weeks.
In the meantime if you’d like a massage appointment, I have a couple of spots on Thursday 29th. Birth pool, birth sling and tens machine are available for hire from mid-June.

I made it !

I spent an hour battling in the water before actually starting to swim the conditions were so rough. Joel spent 10min with me to ensure i was ok and still finished 44min ahead of me, bless him! I saw hundreds of swimmers overtaking me . One of them stopped to ask me if I were alright 🩵. To say I was petrified was an understatement. I made it and a bit scarred from the 1.5m swell and wind 🥴.

I started taking swim lessons 3 months ago. I don't have much water in me 😄 It's been a huge challenge and I am super proud. Thankful for all the people who have inspired me in particular and who could not make it this year, my swim coach and awesome friends .

The Busselton Jetty Swim is always such a super seamlessly well organised event and me and the fam and extended fam had a great time!

I am posting to say we are extending the deadline for the fundraiser for another week to give you more time to donate. So next Saturday 15th I'll draw a winner for the 90min massage treatment. We have passed the 50% target and I'd like to thank each of you for your generosity in donating to 🩵

Fundraiser for Sea Women | Massage give away

2 weeks to go until the iconic 3.6kms Busselton jetty swim! Most mornings, me and J get up early to South Beach, and we've been lucky to witness the underwater magical wildlife.

We would like to honour the Aboriginal people who have taken care of the Land and Oceans around Australia.

We have set up a fundraiser for Sea Women, who run marine conservation trainings for Indigenous women to connect with the Oceans while using modern technologies and means to look after the marine biology.

Anyone donating will enter a draw for a 90min massage voucher. You can donate anonymously or let me know if you don't want to be in the draw.

Busselton jetty swim 🏊‍♀️ | Not born to swim
We don't grow up in Asia learning to swim even in Vietnam where most of the land is on the water.
In Australia almost every kid I know has been taking swim lessons from 6 month of age or swimming with their parents. It's really cool! 🏊‍♂️

I've had the most patient and kind swim coach in the past 2 months in the community. She has taught me to swim. I've spent countless hours in the waters at South Beach training to swim the Busso jetty swim. Haven't done the race yet but I am feeling super proud of myself 💪 for overcoming my fear of water, drowning and jellyfish - sharks definitely too, but stingers are a real thing, and painful!! 🦈 🪼 🎐

I'll be posting about my fundraiser with, as always, a massage give away from a person who is donating.
