It was powerful to see the Hedland community come together for the Hedland Says No to Family Violence march last week.
The strong turnout showed how deeply our town cares about standing against family violence and supporting those who have been affected. Together, we’re raising awareness and helping build a safer, stronger future for everyone in Hedland. 🩷

A big thank you to the event partners and The HVAG Community group who helped make this possible:
BHP Western Australia, Rio Tinto, Fortescue, Julyardi Aboriginal Corporation, Act Belong Commit
Events like this remind us what’s possible when we stand united!

Last Friday, our Hedland team had the privilege of standing alongside community to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Pilbara Strike.

What unfolded was something truly special. A gathering grounded in respect, truth, and deep cultural strength. Stories were shared, history was honoured, and the legacy of those who stood up for fairness and dignity continues to echo powerfully through this place.

We’re incredibly proud to play a small part in supporting and recognising the significance of this moment. In Hedland, history isn’t something that sits quietly in the past. It lives, it breathes, and it shapes the way we show up for community every day.

Grateful to everyone who came together to make it such a meaningful and memorable occasion.

PILBARA STRIKE - 80 YEARS ON

Come along. Come together.

This May, we pause to honour the strength, courage, and unity of Aboriginal pastoral workers who changed history through the Pilbara Strike of 1946. What began as a stand for fair wages and dignity became a powerful movement for justice that still echoes across generations today.

Join us as we walk in solidarity and reflect on the legacy that shaped the Pilbara and beyond. It’s a chance to listen, learn, and stand alongside community in respect and recognition.

🧡 Commemorative Walk
Walk together in strength and solidarity through Port Hedland, finishing with a community BBQ.

🧡 Community Event
An evening of storytelling, live performances, and shared experiences as we honour the 80th anniversary of this significant moment in history.

This is a space for connection, reflection, and community.
Free event. All welcome.

Because remembering isn’t just looking back, it’s carrying those stories forward.

🎨PILBARA YOUTH ART EXPO - ARTIST SPOTLIGHT 🎨

This bold, handcrafted jewellery set "VAMPIRE BITES" by Scarlett Black draws inspiration from the haunting world of Dracula.

Featuring a necklace and matching earrings, the piece imagines an adornment worn by one of his victims, marked by the moment everything changed. There’s a gothic elegance to it, blending beauty with a darker edge, like something both treasured and cursed.

Handmade with care, this set transforms storytelling into something you can wear, a statement piece that’s impossible to ignore.

🩸 Medium: Handmade Jewellery (Necklace & Earring Set)

🎨PILBARA YOUTH ART EXPO - ARTIST SPOTLIGHT 🎨

This captivating piece "STAR CHILD" by Ebony Mason feels like stepping into a dream, one that’s beautiful but edged with warning.
Painted in acrylic, the artwork features a young girl with striking blue hair, surrounded by owls who carry a powerful message: that speaking her truth may lead to danger and pain. There’s a tension woven through the piece, between innocence and fear, silence and self-expression.
It invites you to pause and wonder… what happens when a voice is held back? And what strength it takes to be heard anyway.

🦉 Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
📏 Size: 23 x 30.5 cm

This piece is available to purchase via www.pyae.com.au and can be experienced in person at the West Pilbara Art Expo. Some stories don’t shout; they stay with you long after you’ve seen them ✨

🎨PILBARA YOUTH ART EXPO - ARTIST SPOTLIGHT 🎨

This heartfelt piece "SOUL MATES" by Charlotte Anaghastopoulos is a gentle reminder that connection is always out there, waiting to be found.
Created in acrylic, the artwork speaks to the idea that somewhere in this world exists your soulmate, your second half, the final piece of a puzzle, your forever. There’s a quiet hope woven through it, like a promise that no matter how lost things can feel, you’re never truly alone in the bigger picture.

It’s the kind of piece that feels both personal and universal… something you don’t just see, but feel.
