Gurrgiyn Gurrgiyn (Preying Mantis) Rangers Program – Dunghutti-Led, Country-Driven 🌿
The Dunghutti Elders Council Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC, as the Registered Native Title Body Corporate for the Dunghutti Nation, is proud to announce the successful funding of the Gurrgiyn Gurrgiyn (Preying Mantis) Rangers Program through Round Two of the Indigenous Rangers Program, administered by the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA).
This Dunghutti-led initiative is grounded in our cultural authority, Traditional Law and Custom, and our community’s vision for self-determination and sustainable land and sea management.
The Gurrgiyn Gurrgiyn Rangers Program will:
🔸 Strengthen cultural heritage and intergenerational knowledge transfer
🔸 Create meaningful employment pathways for Dunghutti People
🔸 Support land and sea management guided by Traditional Law and Custom
🔸 Contribute to Closing the Gap through community-led environmental stewardship
This is a significant milestone for the Dunghutti Nation and the broader Mid North Coast region, delivering long-term social, cultural, and economic benefits through culturally safe and locally governed ranger work.
We thank NIAA for supporting our vision and look forward to delivering a program that reflects Dunghutti excellence, legacy, and leadership.
